Vzw claims to "never stop working for you" looks like they dropped the ball here... they definately stopped working for us. They should atleast give an update to the OTA
battery doesn't hold the charge as well.
i've got an extended family member who just made the jump to t-mobile to save money.
in making the change, he's aware, no 4g but supposedly s3 on steroids & yes he had a glitch free upgrade to 4.3.
i wonder if you've read about issues on the s4 board of problems with 4.3.
i-phone was a joke on my son's i5, 4g only if you have wi-fi.
verizon has little, if any, control over what apple does, much less samsung.
verizon has the best coverage of any us carrier.
after a lengthy soaktest, verizon had many issues with the upgrade to gb on the droid x in early '11. mine was perfect, yet it bricked my son's phone.

Has anyone seen a new timeline that includes when we will start to receive the 4.3 update? Does anyone have any new inside information? I have been checking regularly on the update but there is nothing popping up saying it has any type of update. Verizon is being tight lipped so I am thinking they have not figured out anything or what they are going to do.
This week will mark over a year since the last update came out for the Samsung Galaxy S III on 12/14/12.

Even a generic acknowledgement of status from Verizon like "..Please be patient while we..." would be nice.
They did do that in other threads... It's kind of getting old when you see the same posts, followed by the same reply. It'll get here when Verizon is comfortable getting blamed for things that go wrong.

I blame Samsung more than Verizon. I'm not one to want an update just to get a version number increase, but to fix issues with the current version. Either Samsung did not believe all the problems that owners were having with their GS3 or they didn't care or they were unable to fix/address the issues or they were too focused on their many, many new products to care. Take your pick. Although Verizon is not without some blame; they could have leaned on Samsung for fixes. For a flagship device in its heyday the GS3 was pretty well abandoned for a year. I received my GS3 on July 9, 2012 and signal reception in marginal areas (making, receiving, and holding calls) has been my biggest issue. The Motorolas in my family had no problems in the same locations. This was my first experiment with Samsung and will be my last for a long time. My wife's Moto-X gets here tomorrow and I'll inherit her Razr HD. The GS3 will be put into mothballs and relegated to a backup phone.
I disagree that Samsung is more to blame than Verizon because the other major carriers already have their updates.
Additionally, I have not seen any statement from Verizon that really addresses the delay, other than the generic "updates are exciting message" but that is not about this issue, specifically.
And lastly, yes, I agree that due to this debacle, When my contract expires I will be definitely be abandoning Samsung. Possibly abandoning the entire Android platform unless it is a vanilla edition straight from Google, and moving to the Apple platform. Lastly maybe even Verizon service, although all the major carriers are all equally terrible. But it is really unacceptable why Verizon would not comment directly on THIS update since as previously mentioned it is all over the threads.
Did they specifically say they were working on 4.3 or 4.4 and apologies for the delay, or just that in general "Software updates make the device better..."?

I apologize for not making my comments clear. I was referring to the year long drought when Samsumg ignored all the problems of the GS3 and did nothing to fix them, even denying them. Not the relatively short time between other carriers releaseing 4.3 and when Verizon will release it.

"Updates are exciting"...too bad we'll never get one at the rate you're going. "At this time we do not have any information regarding the update."....we really don't care about you as a customer, you already bought the device sucker, and we could care less that you want the cool new features that would net us sales of the Galaxy Gear watch. "However, please feel free to register for alerts on new products and services by clicking ......" Translation, forget getting an update. Instead let us gouge you price wise and force you into a newer phone and another 2 yr contract just so you can get the features you would have gotten had we updated like we should have.
