Backup Assistant won't stop?

I recently received a Galaxy S III as a replacement phone for an old Galaxy (the USB port refused to work). When trying to transfer my contacts, music and pictures over, I had great difficulty with the contacts, since Backup assistant could not connect. It got so bad to the point where I could not even do it at my house but had to go into the Verizon Store after a phone call did nothing for my phone. Now, I have everything onto my new phone that I needed, however, Backup  Assistant is continually trying to sync, but keeps failing. Two minutes after it fails it tries to sync again. This has been going on for the past seven hours. How do I get backup assistant to stop?

A few things you can do on this.

1) go to Backup Assistant online and export your numbers to a CSV file and save it on your computer

2) go to Gmail and go to contacts and import the CSV file into your Google Contacts.

3) Disable Backup Assistant on your phone

4) disable NewBayService on your phone (this is the service that runs Backup Assistant

5) restore your contacts from Google to your phone and save them as Google Contacts, then ditch Backup Assistant all together

Backup Assistant is very flawed as it never backs up all of your contacts, and if it does, it mixes numbers up between people as well as addresses.

Where do you find NewBayService so I can disable? Also how do you delete the cloud?

Settings > Application Manager > All > scroll down to NewBayService.  Samsung and Verizon in their infinite wisdom have prevented you from disabling it, but you can force stop it.  Unfortunately the next time you boot up your phone it starts again.

Deleting "the cloud" requires voodoo and magic.

Try uninstalling the Updates to it and then disabling it. Verizon may have started blocking access to disable it since they know people were disabling it so the service would NOT run and they want you using the service as they benefit from it.
