Battery

My Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge charges fine, battery life is good all day while it's on and I'm using it.  The last few nights I've turned it off for the night at anywhere between 90%-100%.  I don't plug it in since the battery is almost or fully charged when I turn it off.  When I wake up in the morning and turn it on it's at 3%.  So the battery is draining while it's off.  I guess I could keep it plugged in all night to stop this from happening but I'd rather know why it's happening and if it can be fixed.   Anyone have this happen or know how to fix it?  TIA

I turn my phone off at night.  If you need to leave yours on, turn off all the running apps, including wifi and the gps.  These both use battery all the time.

I turn mine off as well. That's the issue.  My battery is going from 100% to 3% while it is OFF.  When it's on my battery last the entire day/night.

That is strange that turning the phone off and it uses up that much battery.

I know when I restart my phone it may take about 1% on the restart.

I would get ahold of Samsung and see what they say about this problem.

It sounds like the phone is in limbo with the screen off but the phone is not

shutting down completely.Did you get the new update? Just wondering if there

is something with this new update that is causing this. Try restarting the phone in

recovery mode Volume up-Power-Home. Then go down to clear cache partition and

clear it.This will not change any of your settings but it does help with battery issues.

Let us know what happened if you call Samsung about this. You never know this maybe

a problem we all maybe dealing with soon.

I did get 2 new updates!  It happened between the first and the second so when the second came through I thought oh I bet this is to fix the problem I'm having (thinking everyone else must be having it too). Until this morning when I turned my phone on to 3% again. Smiley Sad

I would try and clear the cache partition. I know when I had problems with my S5 battery

draining I did the clear cache and the battery worked fine after that. I was told at the

time that there were files in there that were conflicting with the android system. When you do restart

the phone what does it say under the battery that is using all the battery up?

I rely on my phone to wake me up, so I know how important it is for the device to hold a charge, daniellanina.  We will be more than glad to help with your device concerns.  While it is odd that the battery drains when the phone is turned off, we will go over a few items.  I have not seen any reports of this after the latest update.  Have you installed any new apps? Please make sure that all the apps are up to date.  Please run a device health check and post your results: https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-206364/.  Also, just out of curiosity, does anything show in the Battery Usage screen after you power on the device in the morning? https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-203164/.

Daniel,

I had the same problem, the Dec update borked my phone.  I was on the site here and found the suggestion of clearing the cache (power off phone, hold down volume up, power and home button,  Then use volumne down to select clear cache partition).  I just did it, but it seems like the drain is gone.

Warning:  When I booted into recovery (vol up, home, power) I got a blue screen that said system update (even though  I was up to date).  Then it said no command and seemed frozen.  Then it finally booted into recovery with me doing nothing (other than frantically googling on a computer LOL).  I then cleared the cache and it seems better but its only been 10 minutes.

I don't know if that screen is normal but that is what I get on mine everytime

I go into recovery mode. I thought at first that I was going to endup having a dead phone.
