The phone is SIM unlocked from the factory. You will need to verify if the phone has the radio frequencies compatible with the local carrier you intend to use there.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Hi, VSM15. I hope you have a safe and amazing trip. Ann154 is right. The good news is that Verizon Wireless doesn’t lock our global LTE devices, like the Galaxy S8. So there is nothing holding you back from this end from using a local SIM for a trip out of the country but you will need to make sure the local carrier will support the phone. We also have a number of great travel plans available for our customers. Log into www.vzw.com/tripplanner to see what you can expect if you chose to use your Verizon SIM instead.
Thank you
