Contacts list on S9 plus

Am I missing something?  I can not change my contacts list to be alphabetical by last name.  On my other phones you bring up contacts and hit the three dots "menu"  and pick how to sort.  I do not see this.

are you using gmail or another contact list??

I was using the contact list that came with phone.  I downloaded google contacts yesterday and that does let you pick alphabetical order.
