Forced Visual Voice upgrade killed my voice mail access.

I have a pair of Samsung Galaxy phones, a S5 and a S3.  I delayed the forced upgrade from the standard Basic Voice Mail to the free Basic Visual Voice Mail.  If I remember accurately, my services were forced to upgrade back on the 26th.  I just made repeated attempts to access my voice messages, which is vital as I am out of work and relying on my voice mail for job hunting purposes. I finally gave up after trying to access my messages for the past two hours. I am also unable to complete the upgrade to the Visual Voice Mail as I keep getting prompted to agree to a $2.99 monthly fee for Premium Visual Voice Mail. I don't want either one!! I know all about the option to call my voice mail from another phone, but I don't have another phone to call from  VZ, why do you keep forcing your long term, faithful customers to endure your financial [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service] tactics? Why are you doing everything in your power to drive customers like my wife and I away by hiking up rates for services that you don't want to honor any more? Why are you consistently trying to force customers who are out of contract back into contracts that no longer provide the services or features that are needed and wanted? I have endured your selfish decision to raise the monthly rate for my grandfathered Unlimited Data plan for both phones from $29.99 up to $49.99 per line.  I have been out of contract for years, primarily due to the fact that your current plans are [removed] , offering less functionality and fewer features while charging more for the overall package. Now I get to choke on your Basic Visual Voice Mail? Does anyone out there know how I can access my messages from my phone without getting blocked by this [removed] Visual Voice Mail downgrade?!

Try dialing *86 OR dial YOUR cell number & that should put you into basic voice mail.

Thank you for the layman's reminder of voicemail usage.  I am more than educated enough to know how to dial my voice mail box.  As I stated in my post, "... I know all about the option to call my voice mail from another phone ...". I am also more than aware of the process to access my voicemail from my cell phone directly.  As stated in my post, "...I just made repeated attempts to access my voice messages, ...I finally gave up after trying to access my messages for the past two hours ..." Thank you for attempting to remind me of the painfully obvious.  I would think that if someone had gone to the trouble and length of posting what I have, it would be a safe guess to suspect that that person would already be aware of how to access their own freaking voicemail.  Does anyone else have any suggestions on how to get my vaoice mails now that VZ Wireless has screwed me over yet again with another of their mindless and needlessly mandated service changes? Preferably someone directly associated with VZ Wireless would be greatly appreciated.

For the record, every attempt to access my voice mail, either from my cell phone or my wife's phone, results in the same f-ing message and my call is disconnected.  The automated message I'm getting is stating that I "... no longer have access to this service.  Please contact your account administrator for assistance."  Wouldn't you know it, I already am that administrator!

Hello VZW Community!

I have an update to my question and concern.  Rather than trying to paraphrase everything that went on in the private msg  session I had, I am going to paste in excerpts that will hopefully shed some much needed light on this issue.  For those of you who are in the same boat I am, or share similar concerns, pay attention to what comes next.  This just might be what you need to hear.  The following excerpts are between myself and [removal required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service]

Ouch, sorry I was of no help.(Yikes)

Glad I didn't activate the Visual Voice Mail on my phones. Basic voice mail is easy, fast & efficient on all but iPhones if set up correctly.

My motto is ; "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
