A few days ago I plugged my G5 into the charger. The screen displayed that the charger was not compatible with my phone.
This is the charger that came with my phone.
Tried my wife's charger, again it was the original charger, it displayed the same error message.
I have found that my G5 will charge, though very slowly, if it is turn off. After trying several fixes I have not come up with a solution.
Have tried everything from cleaning the USB port to doing a factory reset.
Any other suggestions?

BangBangmyLouLou, it's imperative that you have the ability to charge the battery. Your efforts thus far are appreciated. We're stepping in to help. Do you see any corrosion or physical damage in the charging port where you connect it to the charger?

No,
There is no physical damage to the USB port, nor is there any corrosion of
any kind.

As I stated in the post, I am using the original charge and the have switch
chargers with my wife's charger. She also owns a S5.
I just made an interesting discovery, I have plug my phone into the
computer I am using and the computer does not recognize the phone. However,
the phone (and it is turned off) is appearing to charge.

BangBangmyLouLou,
We appreciate the response. Are you aware if the device software is up to date? When plugged into the PC if you pull down the notification bar do you see an option to change the charging mode?

There in lies the problem.
The computer does not recognize the phone as being plugged in, though the
phone will charge off the computer there is no communication between the
two devices.
Now there is a whole new problem. The phone will not boot. It will boot
as far as the red Verizon screen, stays on the red screen for about a
minute, then powers down.
I took my S5 into a Verizon owned store and was told that the is completely
dead. So it sound as if I will be purchasing another phone to replace my
S5.

It's never fun when a phone finally meets its end, BangBangmyLouLou. I want to check in with you here. Did you end up purchasing a new device? Do you have the extended warranty on your S5?
