Galaxy S 4. Lousy Samsung Products

My Galaxy S 4 purchased in June 2014 has been a real headache. To begin I found out the charger it came with was not transmitting data and would not backup the phone. Sat for hours with Verizon and Samsung and finally had to have the charger replaced.  Lost my contacts . Thank heavens I had them on Carbonite.

My phone has been losing battery power which got worse in December. I have hardly nothing on it. Basic email, messaging, camera, phone apps.. I have to charge it twice a day. Bought a new battery on 1/22/2015. Still losing power.  Verizon customer service agents have been the worst you can deal with. They have no answers and some are down right rude. Seems I got a bad phone to begin with. No I have not dropped or exposed the phone to any moisture but the battery shows defect.  I will never own another Samsung product as long as I live. This is my third experience and  I literally threw out Blue Ray player and previous phone. They sell JUNK. If I cannot get this corrected I will leave Verizon.

Fedupliz We want you to be able to enjoy using your device. Let's find a solution as we wouldn't want you to cancel services because of phone issues. When you say that the charger was not transmitting data, please elaborate. How does the new charger work? As for the contacts being lost, what caused them to disappear? Also, it is good to use the Backup assistant and Verizon Cloud to backup contacts and other media.

Since you are also having battery issues, we want to check what's on the phone that could be causing the problem. Check settings and the battery manager. What do you see as using the most battery? How often are you using bluetooth, connected devices or wifi?

SheritaH:

My service with Verizon has been a shaky one. I get persons who promise to

call back and never do. By the way the credit for the battery is supposed to

be $42.79.That's the amount charged. This is my THIRD piece of bad

equipment from Samsung. It will be my last. My previous phone died the week

after the warranty ran out. My Blue Ray player just refused to work after

very little use. Threw it in the trash after a few months of buying it.

This phone would not update or backup and dropped my contacts. Sat with

Samsung who finally told me to send it back to them. However Verizon

replaced it and I was not left without a charger. Samsung's answer to what

was happening was send the phone back to us we will test it and fix or

replace with used unit. Not only leaving me without a phone for at least

three weeks but it seems they could care less what the outcome would be. I

will post a response to what is going on at <http://www.my3cents.com>

www.my3cents.com. Maybe the FTC will look into Samsung's practices and

resolve consumer plights.

I HAVE NO DESIRE TO USE SOMETHING THAT SOMEONE HAS SPAT INTO. NEVER BOUGHT

ANYTHING USED IN MY LIFE AND DO NOT INTEND TO EVER.

The S 4 has been losing power while not in use since day one. My only use

for this or any phone is Email, phone and an occasional text. I do not

carry my life around with me . The phone is for emergency, period. In

December FIOS dropped my phone call and I had to use the cell to try to find

out what was happening. Had to put it on the charger and never got a

resolution to why the FIOS service dies at inappropriate times.

When I get to the point of totally fed up I will check out service that is

outside Verizon, until then My frustration will continue and I will keep

the phone on the charger to avoid not losing service when I need it. I have

an Apple I- 5 and if necessary I might switch. Verizon was no better they

would replace my phone with a used unit. Do you know there are viruses that

can survive for months on equipment. Read about EBOLA. Not the only one

either. Unfortunately we live in a society where quantity has replaced

quality and the almighty dollar means more. I do not hope to get any

satisfaction from this. I can only pray that somehow justice will come in

the form of Verizon and Samsung suffering a huge loss. There is a God.

Verizon is the Samsung vendor you bought from, If you bought it at Best Buy would you boycott them? Of course not.

Every wireless service provider does warranty replacements with refurbished (used) devices. Can't blame Verizon for that, its the only way warranty via service provider works. Verizon has to buy from the manufacturer, and so they send you a used one so that you don't have to be without a phone, like you would with the manufacturer. They send you a phone, then you send back the old one.

You are wrong Samsung stated I should send them the phone. Did not offer to

send me any replacement while they had mine.

Yeah, manufacturers don't provide a temporary phone, or send a replacement usually.  You have to send them yours and wait as they fix it.  That's why i always used Verizons warranty service route as LG always wanted me to pay shipping to and/or from and be without for 2-3 weeks.

Right, this is why carriers will do the warranty instead. Its as a convenience for the customer. Its not up to the carrier to replace your device with a new one when they weren't the manufacturer. Even WalMart wont take that hit on a cell phone.

Just for your information I pay verizon for additional warranty monthly even though my Samsung warranty is in place.
