Just logging my complaint about the battery issue.  I have not added any apps and use my phone the same way each day.  It went dead in 2 hours today, and I'm now charging it 2 to 3 times a day.  I could go 12 hours prior to this update.  It's certainly not an issue of a battery needing replacement as I've only had it for 4 months.

Why is Verizon's answer ALWAYS to perform a hard reset? That's TOTAL BS!!!! Here's am idea for you... coordinate something with the manufacturer so that these stupid unnecessary ridiculous problems can be solved without having to reset our damn devices! It's so easy for you guys to sit behind your computer and tell us to hard reset our devices. Sure, we may have our important stuff backed up, like contacts, messages, photos, app data etc, but your one size fits all solution of a hard reset does NOT solve the problem of RECONFIGURING ALL OUR SETTINGS, WALLPAPERS, RINGTONES, PREFERENCES, ETC ETC ETC! This @!*# hard reset solution, your seemingly ONLY solution, is the EASY way out. Is there anyone working at Verizon that is actually a technician? Cuz it seems to me you're just reading your computer screen and following the prompts..."now tell our CUSTOMER to perform a hard reset...".

Just unbelievable!

whaleswatch, you've reached the right place to uplift your grievance. The software update may be conflicting with the applications that you previously downloaded to your device. Try uninstalling any unwanted applications and power your device off/on to soft reset.

Hi Nyvet,

We want you to have a properly working device! A Hard Reset is a great way to repair the device. The reset would look for any software conflicts, wipe the device, then repair device.

Thanks,

Hard resetting a device is a huge inconvenience, and I wasn't born yesterday. It does NOT 'REPAIR' a device (even though that's what your notes on your computer screen tell you to say). Its probably not your fault, its your higher ups putting you up to feeding up B S. Here's another idea. Tell Samsung to stop pushing out corrupt software updates and figure out how to help us WITHOUT the huge inconvenience of a hard reset. They won't give us the updates we WANT (like 4.4.4 as the 4.4.3 sucks toilet water before the flush), but they'll give us (force us is more accurate) these crappy updates that are plagued with more problems than they're supposed to solve.

@NYVET - Thank you for articulating/venting the frustration we are all feeling! Verizon's suggestion for this matter should not be "Perform a hard reset." That does NOTHING to fix the problem and causes many unnecessary headaches for the customer. As for the suggestion by @LasinaH_VZY, this is not an app conflict - this is a mistake in the code of the update! What good is our smart phone is there is a conflict between the software update VERIZON provided us with and one or more of the apps we use?! Verizon's answer is to uninstall all of our apps just to make the phone usable? The apps were perfectly fine prior to the NG6 update. VERIZON, WE INSIST YOU ESCALATE THIS ISSUE UP THE CHAIN AND FIND RESOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM. SHOW SOME ACCOUNTABILITY! We would appreciate that MUCH more as customers rather than hearing generic answers of "perform a hard reset" or "it's a problem with your apps."

PamelaF_VZW, you're kidding, right?  Obviously, you haven't read the hundreds of posts here about the NG6 update being the cause of all the issue S4 users are having.  If you have read any of the posts, you would know that the hard reset does nothing to fix the issue.  All it does is irritate users who have to spend hours getting their phones back to where there were before the update.  It's ridiculous and very disappointing that VZW and Samsung can't get their acts together and push a fix for this fiasco!!

Verizon takes the easy way out, all the time. A hard reset is their ONLY answer! Its not THEIR phones, its not THEM who have to spend hours reconfiguring stuff for hours, its not THEIR data or a picture or an important work file that they missed backing up because they just wanted their phone back the way it was and were duped into hard resetting it...so they're just puppets reading a teleprompter on their desk, most likely not even in this country to begin with, and the easiest thing to do is tell us to hard reset our phones. Hey Verizon...you know what's HARD? Staying with YOU! You might find people doing a hard reset alright...from you to AT&T. Think about that. Your bills are high and your customer support (and even BASIC tech knowledge) is very low. You need those two attributes to meet in the middle...lower our bills a little and provide BETTER tech support! We're NOT GETTING WHAT WE PAY FOR!!!!!!!!

My phone won't come out of sleep for minutes when trying to use it since the update.  This morning, it won't wake up at all. Battery pulled to restart.  Phone wakes up then reboots on its own.  Wakes up again, can't find my wifi signal (the router is literally three feet away).  Such a great way to start my day.

Thanks for another failed update VZ.

Add another vote for terrible battery performance following the NG6 update.

Also, I get a notification from my iSyncr app every time the Android media scanner runs.  Before the NG6 update, the media scanner only ran on reboot or when I added/removed music.  After the update, I see the notification running about a dozen times throughout the day for no reason at all.  These additional, unnecessary scans further decrease the battery and contribute to the problems we're having.

The QA teams for both Verizon and Samsung should be ashamed.
