How do I download images from my phone to my computer?

How do I download images (only) from my phone to my computer. I connect the two effectively with a usb cable but cannot identify the next step.

Once you connect the phone and computer via the USB cable, pull down the phone's notification shade, change the USB mode to File Transfer, and then 'drag and drop' the files.  For example:

Move Pictures / Videos from Device - Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ | Verizon Wireless
