Here's the way my SG3 works.  I plug it into a USB port on my computer.  On my phone in the notification area is a USB icon.  If I pull it down and touch "Connected as ...." I get two options MTP and PTP.  Choose MTP if you can, use PTP if it's all you can do.  Then on your computer when you open "Computer" there is a new icon, "SCH-I535.  Open it and there are two drives, "Card" (your external; micro-SDcard) and "Phone" (your internal phone storage).  Pick one and click on it, you see folders.  Find your pictures and drag and drop to your PC.  If you pictures were not on the one you picked then look in the other one.  When you are through close all open drives/folders and unplug your phone.  The pictures are now on both your phone and PC.  If you want to delete them from your phone go to Gallery and delete them there.

If you need GS3 USB drivers for your PC, USB drivers from Samsung for the Verizon GS3 may be found at:

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SCH-I535MBBVZW

Select Manuals and Software and then Software.

You should be able to plug it in using your charge sync cable and on your phone when you get the message to choose an option like charge only, use as disk drive etc choose use as disk drive.  Your computer should install some USB files and then you can go into my computer and click on the drive it will be lettered something like E: etc and then you can start looking for a folder called media which should contain your photos.

Ok I will try I have a Thunderbolt currently.  I plug it in and choose disk drive (mount as disk drive) and I then go to my computer I am using Windows XP and look for my device i.e. mine shows as H: drive I double click it then I look for the folder dcim all in lower case then look for folder 100media and inside there is all the pictures I have taken.  Now if I have downloaded pics from a text message, facebook email etc they are in a folder called download

I think, for the SGSIII, it needs to be in Media Mode.  I have a Rezound, so I may be mistaken on this, but I know the SGSIII is different from other Android-based phones.

So here's a question. I dropped my phone and now the screen is dead (I've already gotten a replacemenet. Insurance is good!). When I connect the phone it's not in the mode that lets me pull pics. Any ideas how I can get my pics off the phone? I had the backup running and recently successfully backed up, which I think included my pics. Any idea how to get the pictures from the backup?

Flybert, I can understand how frustrating and tedious it was to research how to transfer pictures from your Samsung Note to your computer. Normally, when you connect your phone to your computer, a pop up help window will provide you with the details on what software is needed for your computer in order to transfer files. Additionally, the Samsung forums are in place to provide helpful information, as well. However, it's sometimes like trying to find a needle in a hay stack!

For your convenience, you also have the option of saving and managing your photos from your device at "Backup Assistant Plus Media." This feature will upload and back up your media files at My Verizon. Once your pictures are saved online, you have the option of moving them over to your computer. After reading all the posts, and downloading the Verizon App, my computer asked me if I would like to transfer the pictures using Bluetooth. It took just a few seconds.
