I think I have a virus

battery drains a lot, even on idle

factory reset didn't fix anything

When you did the factory reset, did you restore any of your content afterwards? If you did have a virus, its possible it could be in the files you restored. You may want to try another reset, but hold off on restoring any content until you've had some time to verify if the problem is still happening or not.

If you didn't restore any content, then its more likely that you have a hardware problem. If you have warranty coverage on your phone, you may be able to get it replaced by Verizon.

Did you run the app VZ Protect its from Verizon. From what you are describing doesn't sound like a virus but that your apps or something on your phone is running overtime

Did you run the health check on it? It is not the best but it is a good place to start

i ran the vz a few times and each time it picked up nothing

without info of what apps you have, what is constantly updating, it's hard to answer your question.

after i factory reset i put only these apps back in my phone

some i recognize, most i don't but i see what looks like 4 av type apps including verizon protection + a cleaner app.

av's fight each other & may be why phone's hot.
