The best way to get an answer to the problem would be to contact your email provider-

I am having the exact problem. On 2/15 it stopped working. Then email was received again a few days later. Now I have not gotten any emails since 2/22/18. If I attempt to change settings in the cell phone I get unable to safely connect to the server. Tried my old LG Verizon cell phone over wifi and it works perfectly. My wife has a Samsung S5, the same as I have and she also can't receive emails either. So, this seems to be a Samsung related issue. The humor here is I was a Verizon switch technical support specialist for the last 10 years of my career and have no idea where to go with this. I can't narrow this down to Verizon, Aol or Samsung. Something changed to cause this but there are still too many variables to trouble shoot this. Hopefully, future posts about this will narrow it down. As of 02/26/2018 if you change the incoming pop setting from pop.verizon.net to incoming.verizon.net your email will again work.

Here is what worked for me. Change your incoming setting from pop.verizon.net to incoming.verizon.net. It now is working fine.

Sorry, I just reread your post. I would suspect your setting is pop.sbcglobal.net so try incoming instead of pop. incoming.sbcglobal.net. I don't know why this stopped working but this fixed mine.

@BGS.BUSINESS We understand the importance of having access to your inbound emails. We're here to assist. What happens when you use an alternate email account from your phone? Are you able to sync your inbound emails from an alternate device? Also, bearone21 provided some great advice have you attempted to delete the email account from phone, and set it up manually?

lisasue, I definitely understand the frustration of your emails not syncing. Have you updated to the most recent software available for your Samsung Galaxy S4? How does your inbox behave when you log into your email from another device?

smitty1652 hit the nail on the head. changed my incoming server setting to incoming.verizon.net and now mail works again on my phone. mind you this is totally contrary to what Verizon insists your setting must be. they insist pop.verizon.net is the only setting that works. and that is the only setting that works on my laptop and desktop. typical horrific Verizon service. absolute worst system and support out there.

Thank you!
I had the exact same symptoms as several others here:
1. Samsung S5
2. Verizon email account migrated last year to AOL.
3. Just noticed that phone email stopped syncing on Feb 22 2018. My PC/web-based email is fine.
Your fix worked well. Kudos.

...and there is a VZ Customer Support Rep on this thread, offering sympathy and asking questions but not providing any answers. (I don't blame the rep for not knowing what's going on. I blame Verizon for not giving their reps a heads-up that something has changed and that they are likely to encounter customer queries. I would really hate to work for VZ.)

That should be true, but unfortunately the best way is to find a fellow user on these forums who knows what he/she is talking about.
