I'm thrilled that my phone now has Jelly Bean 4.1.1 and I'm like a little kid in the candy store playing with the new features. But what about Jelly Bean 4.2? Will Samsung and Verizon step up and upgrade our device to Jelly Bean 4.2 sometime soon?
Don't expect 4.2 to be coming soon. Do expect every other country and carrier to get 4.2 before Verizon.
it will come out about the time 4.3 comes out if we are lucky. or they might just decide to stop surport for the SG3 and tell us to upgrade to the latest crippled phone that will probally have something held back again and the cycle will continue
They did not give us all the features of Jellybean, blocked some of the pretty neat features.
Come on Verizon. We are adults and can handle it.
LolasMom, can you clarify please? What features did Verizon block?
I did read last night that Samsung is strongly leaning towards building 4.2 Jelly Bean for the S3 so I guess we'll have to wait ti see what Samsung does first.
If I don't see 4.2 in the next few months, then I'll just root my phone and install Cyanogenmod's flavor of 4.2 and enjoy it that way.
The feature Blocking Mode , is blocked. You could block incoming calls, notifications, and set the certain times you want it to engage.
Wi-Fi settings, under advanced, the timer option is missing, enables you to set times when Wi-Fi is on or off and network notification, notifies you if a network is available to use instead of Wi-Fi.
Auto Haptic is missing.
Samsung just released Jelly Bean 4.2 for the 3GS. Too bad it ill take forever for verizon to give it to us
So Google Released Jelly Bean 4.3 today and my Samsung Galaxy S3 still dont have 4.2. But my Nexus tablet was updated today. So switching to Nexus as soon as my contract is up. Verizon/Samsung has the worst support.
Very nice and you will like it.

So impatient. Samsung has to write the code into the OS for the S3. Then they send to Verizon to test and verify it doesn't have issues with the phone or the network. This can all takes weeks or months.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
