I got past the random reboots by wiping the cache. No reboots since on my or my wife's s4. I've got a reboot counter app running for proof. However, now and then the home screen is just frozen. The only way around that is to press the home button and kill everything - then it comes back to life. Once in a great while the Verizon splash screen just shows up like the phone rebooted - but it didn't crash go through a full reboot cycle per the reboot counter app. I hope Samsung is listening as this most likely their bag (lack of sufficient testing) and not Verizon's.

So how long will it take for us to get an update. They want me to send my phone in for a "free evaluation" via their samsung support twitter handle. However I have had the glass repaired, does that mean my warranty is voided. This is such a scam.

Another fail by VZ.  Went through the same thing with, as I recall, 4.3.  WiFi connectivity issues.  Screen freezes.  Battery drain etc.  Interestingly, the update prior to NG6 was working fine so it is clearly possible for VZ to provide a stable update.  Inadequate or non-existent testing prior to this release.  Quite remarkable for a company with the resources to execute proper testing.  As I said per a prior failed update by VZ, I would be fired if I released such sloppy code.

Further, this update provided ZERO benefit to me and most likely the majority of users.  It simply degraded the performance of my phone and updated un-removable crapware.

Solution = will be getting a Nexus 6 straight from Google and switching to another carrier.  Timely updates straight from Google and no more crapware, faulty updates, etc. from VZ and Samsung.  Will I be sacrificing network performance?  Most likely but am so tired of these issues it will be worth it.

Also why didn't Verizon discuss other items which were 'updated' at the time of installation?

Notification Bar - GPS converted to Location (Why?)

Location ALWAYS SET to High Accuracy (Drains Battery VERY QUICKLY)

Camera Firmware Updated - At first use of the stock camera app after installing the update, 'Camera Firmware Updating' appears, guess what happened? Substandard low light photography and blurry images immediately after updating,,,

RAM usage always over 1.0 GB, even after factory data resets and master reset via ODIN in Recovery Mode (Hold UP VOLUME KEY, Home Key and Power Button when turning on phone)

CPU runs VERY HOT at random moments with NO APPS running in background.

Come on Verizon, man up and make the statement you are working on a fix. Otherwise this is the line I draw in the sand and leave for T-Mobile.

Sprint looks better that you guys right now and that makes me sick to even say!

I take back my earlier comment. Since my last posting yesterday afternoon I've had 9 reboots.

This is an epic fail. Verizon please get this fixed asap. Next time test updates more.

I solved my phone's issues by downgrading from the newest update to NC5. Below is a link to the website with simple instructions. The longest part is waiting for the download to finish. I recommend using the full wipe w/ their PIT file. I tried the no-wipe method and got a bunch of android.core crashes.

I am having very similar problems. I was forced to update, which I think is crap. I am in the software business and it is NOT ACCEPTABLE to force and update with not notice or release notes. I first noticed that the phone was getting very warm and the battery drained very quickly. I need to charge at least twice a day and I am not a big user. Thinking this was just battery's wearing out, I ordered new ones (mine and my wife). I also get intermittent restarts that are unacceptable when I am talking. I am planning to switch carriers in the next week if I don't get a notice that the problem is being addressed.

Isn't this just a temporary fix?  As soon as the VZW network detects that the system is not current, won't it try to push NG6?

You might want to try this as some others here have had success with the constant rebooting of the phone.  Go into your App drawer and if you have any apps that are disable or turned off, re enable them or turn them all back on then do a reboot of the phone.

Hope it works for you.

Yep, reenabling all of the apps I disabled helped. I think I did that on the 18th or 19th of November ( a month after the update turned my phone into a nightmare lol) and it hasn't rebooted since. My phone was updating every hour, sometimes two or three times an hour for an entire month prior. I have since disabled all the bloatware apps and it's still working as it should. No factory resets. No tampering with the firmware itself (downgrading, etc.). Good luck to any and everyone.
