S-7 rapid charger stopped working.

My new S-7 phone rapid charger feature stopped working after 18 days.  I don't know if it was because of a recent software upgrade or not.  Verizon reps said they would replace my new phone with a refurbished one.  Is this software related or hardware problem?  They also stated the 14 day replacement policy was Samsung's policy.  With the costs of phones now a days is 14 days realistic?
