I can see how confusing it would be if the necessary steps were already taken to get your Smart Lock set up and it was still not recognizing the Trusted Places. I definitely want to make sure this is a one-stop shop, and we fully figure out why your device is not remaining unlocked. Please shed light on if this issue is impacting more than one place. Please ensure that your device is up to date on the latest software. You can check that information here: http://spr.ly/6584D0SA8

In addition, to ensure that a third party application is not impacting the Smart Lock unlocking feature, please use Safe Mode to test this out. Here is the link: http://spr.ly/6586D0SAE

  • Smart Lock automatically unlocks the device when trusted locations (work, home) or other devices (Bluetooth® headset, NFC tag) have been detected.
  • A secure lock type (PIN, pattern, etc.) must be set up for Smart Lock to be available.

style="border-bottom-color:currentColor;border-bottom-style:none;border-left-color:currentColor;border-left-style:none;border-right-color:currentColor;border-right-style:none;border-top-color:currentColor;border-top-style:none;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:inherit;font-size:inherit;font-style:inherit;font-weight:inherit;margin-bottom:12px;margin-top:6px;text-align:left;text-indent:0px"

  • Navigate: Settings Settings icon > Lock screen and security.
  • Tap Smart Lock.
    Note If presented, enter the current PIN, password, or pattern.
  • Select any of the following options then follow the on-screen instructions to set up a trusted unlock:

While I appreciate your attempt to guide me through setting up a smart lock environment on my phone, I already have done that.  What I need to understand is why the locations listed under "Trusted Places" (I use a strong password for my security lock feature) don't keep my phone unlocked when I am physically at the map coordinates listed as a trusted place?
