Every since I purchased and started using the Samsung Galaxy S8 I receive 2-4 missed calls from my own number every day. My phone doesn't ring but what it does do is pop up a missed call notification from my own number. I'm unable to answer it since the only notification I receive is that I missed the call.
What could be the cause of this?

I'm having a similar problem with my S7, but it has nothing to do with my number. Often, my phone just vibrates once when I get a call, and all I see is that I missed a call. This has been happening for quite a while.

Receiving calls that appear to originate from your phone would indicate...to me...telemarketers are spoofing your telephone number.
I have seen this happen a few times on my Verizon landline...the phone rings and my own telephone number appears in the display.

This be the answer to my question about how you could be getting calls from your own number.

I would agree that telemarketers use this tactic but I feel it's something else causing it because this never happened on my old phone (S4). Also, when this happens my phone doesn't alert me that I'm receiving a call. I only know about the call because the phone shows a missed call. It seems if it were someone spoofing my number that my phone would ring.
I upgraded to the S8 a few weeks ago and immediately I started getting these calls. Prior to the S8 I never got any calls like this.

I haven't received any calls on my smartphone from my own cellular telephone number, so, I don't know how my old S4 or, current, S7E would react.
I'm wondering if this scenario would, indeed, send the calls to voicemail...especially if the trouble isn't happening on any other calls.

marka123,
Caller ID, is a great feature to have, but what you're experiencing is not because of the phone model. Here's a link to our Caller ID practice that explains more: https://www.verizonwireless.com/legal/notices/caller-id/

Jrh4054, receiving these types of calls is never easy. Some third part application can cause these issues. We don't pre-screen the third party apps that you download. You should review any applicable third party terms and conditions before subscribing to or using such services that can cause spoofing issues with your Caller ID. You can also view spoofing information here: http://spr.ly/6580805jq
