Unethical Practice and Bait and Switch

I have been a Verizon user for 20 years.  We have 4 lines on our plan.  I was solicited to trade in my old Samsung phone and my son's Iphone.  In my chat, I asked the question 3 times, are you going to give me the promised trade in value of $700 for the promotion.  I was assured yes, of course.  After numerous calls to get the trade in return box, I finally was able to send it my used phone.  To my surprise, the return site said the phone received was not the phone expected.  Numerous calls and holds times and endless transfers to people, they finally were able to credit me the "correct phone".  Now I am having to do the same dog and pony show for my son's phone that they are not giving me the correct credit for.    Then to make sense of the bills with all the added fees, and credits I feel like I need a forensic accountant.  I'm at the point where I think Verizon is running some kind of scam trying to say you didn't do your part and send in the correct phone and getting away with no credit.  Try to get a supervisor to help you is impossible also.  I think they just put you on hold and hope you go away. I will never use the trade in scam again and will purchase my phones through an outside vendor.

Yes, unfortunately this forum is filled with story after story of this experience, the same as yours.

I haven't traded a phone with Verizon for years. People tend to go through this nightmare because they are enticed by the promised amount that never comes through. I have been buying my phones from Apple. They quote the trade price, send you the package, and you get credited with a week or so. Never once have I had a problem with Apple trade program. Sure, the trade price will be $300 or $400 which doesn't sound as good as Verizon's price. But when the $700 turns into a headache, you never get that much. Either the phone got damaged, or lost or they just don't pay the amount promised. It's a shame.

Good luck to you.

As stated, this seems to be SOP with VZW trades.  I always take pictures of the device before sending it.  I almost always get a response that the screen or case was scratched, until I cry foul and tell them it was always in a case, it always had a tempered glass screen protector, and that I have pics sthat show it before I sent it.  After a little more fighting, I get the credit.

I feel as if the trade-in reps are told to deny everyone initially like insurance companies.

I am sick and tired of this stuff. I spent 18 hours now in two days dealing with Verizon and my issue is STILL not resolved!

I did the trade in and dropped it off at the store and got my receipt right there on the spot and confirmed. My phones are 100% working in perfect condition and not a single scratch anywhere. I would LOVE to see them say anything about any of the 3 phones we traded in. I have pictures, videos and a receipt from the store.

The moment they say otherwise, it's over for them and I will also go to the media. Verizon has turned in to a low level company.
