What are miscellaneous files and can I delete them?

I have  Galaxy S4 that I can't add more apps to. I have cleaned it up but it still says there is no space.

At settings-->storage-->I see 6.4 GB of misc files. How can I see what these are and perhaps delete them?

Thanks,

Mary

If you have room to install Storage Analyzer it will help you hunt down where the largest chunk of files, but as Snn5 said, be careful what you delete, if in doubt ask here and we will try to help you.

Storage Analyzer - Android Apps on Google Play

Otherwise you can run My Files already on your phone and it will help narrow down to some degree as well.

Misc files are typically system files much like your protected recovery partition on a PC.  You cannot delete those files.  If you could, you'd have a non-functioning phone.

DO you have an SD card for storage of photos, music, etc?

HAve you deleted old text messages?

I have the same issue, I shouldn't have to delete stuff, due to bloatware on the phone, it takes up so much space that its ridiculous. I have deleted 6 apps, all my pictures ( which really upset me to do).

That is what cloud storage like Dropbox or Google photos is for.  Or use an SD card to store photos.  I don't store music or photos in internal storage, it's all in cloud or SD card.
