It will take at least 5 minutes to download the MMS and then I cannot respond to anyone, even with a regular SMS, for 5-10 minutes. This is incredible frustrating and I was wondering if anyone had any solutions. I tried clearing the cache, and I tried resetting my phone completely and nothing has worked. I hope someone can help.

Shut down and clear both cache and data from the app your now using and then do a normal restart of phone. Now go back and restart your old app and check all your settings, and give it a try. If this still is slow I would try another message app such as the phone's stock app or one from the Play Store. In both cases have your mobile data on before using your message app.

Sadly this did not work. The picture I had my friend send took 7 minutes to download. I tried on both the stock messaging app as well as Google's Messenger app. The problem with lag still persists.

Ineiman,
Let's get your MMS messages back in business and add some speed to your service. What's your zip code? Does this happen with all contacts or just some? When did this start? Please share additional details.

My zip is 68178 and it happens whenever I get a MMS from anyone from any
device. This seems to have started soon after the most recent update. It
used to just happen occasionally, but now it occurs every time and it's
very frustrating.

Ineiman,
I can understand the frustration with your text messages. I know how important they are to stay connected. When did you update your software on your device? Have you tried deleting all of your text message threads? Let's keep digging on this.

I'm pretty sure I updated it as soon as it was available. Then I noticed my
texting was being weird and completely reset my phone back to factory
defaults. The big reset was in November. This seemed to fix the problem for
a bit and it has slowly gotten worse since then and I really don't want to
completely reset my phone every few months to fix a problem that didn't
exist until the update. I have completely deleted all of my texts multiple
times and that doesn't work either.

Ineiman,
Im sorry that your phone isn't working since the update. Let's look into this further! Are you using the native messaging app? Or a third party application?

I was using the native until two days ago when I decided to try Google's
Messenger app, because this was a suggestion I found online to try and fix
the problem. I'm still currently using google messenger because I like it,
but this problem has nothing to do with what app I am using since I have
only been using the non-native app for the last two days.

Ineiman,
The additional details are truly appreciated! Have you tried downloading the picture messages with wifi on and off? Do you notice a difference in the opening the MMS when connected to wifi or data? How much storage space do you have available still on your device?
