Why Is My Phone Still Laggy After I Deleted Files And Restarted It?

Branched from an earlier discussion: Sluggish performance

None of this solved my laggy issue. Voice to text hardly works, all functions lag, the phone was passable before the update. Now it flat out sucks.

I’m sorry to learn that you continue to experience issues with your phone after deleting files and restarting, ZUKZEKIM. You indicate that these issues start after latest software update, and we want your phone to work as good (or better) as it did before the update. My resources indicate that a factory reset will resolve post software update issues, please do a factory reset as per this link: http://spr.ly/65858liw7

Make sure to disable Auto Restore when doing factory reset as per this link: https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-203264/

Is there also something in your 'resources' that says system updates shouldn't cause problems that are only fixed by factory resets?

This is for real? Factory reset? So I get to slick this thing to factory in hopes that it works right? Then begin the process of getting my apps back? Reloading contacts  (which usually messes a handfull of them up like my business line is now 'Unknown'). All this on a phone I didnt want in the 1st place? I would like a 2nd opinion. I have lag between apps, screen response is dreadful, and every Verizon car charger seems to stop working within a month or two  (not sure if thats related or not but as the nearest Verizon store is 45 min away its a pain). Please tell me the collective knowledge of Verizon's tech support isn't hinged on a factory reboot as a 1st response.

ZUKZEKIM,

We want you to be happy with the device that you own before and after a software update, as manufacturer updates are made to enhance the device functions and security. When did you start having charging issues? Our goal is to provide the most effective step to resolve your device concerns. Once completed the factory data reset, please advise us of results.

The car charger may or may not be related to the update. I am on my way to the nearest Verizon store today to return the last charger they replaced for me. By nearest, I mean 45 minutes away. Verizon is not conveniently located to me. The sad part is that I have a cheap $5 car charger that I have been using for the last 2 years works just fine on any other device. On this phone, I can only slow charge. The lag issues, random screen freeze, and sloppy touch screen response are all since the update. I will not reset the phone to factory as a 1st option. That is my last resort. I would rather just stop using this phone altogether since it was never a phone that I wanted to own in the first place. It was a consolation prize/forced purchase that locked me in to a 2 year obligation.

No it doesn't work. But, since the only solution I have been provided is to "start over" how about you all take this alternate offering of a phone back, cancel my monthly obligation to it, and I'll just use an old phone I have laying around until such time as a phone I actually feel like owning arrives. You are aware of just how much of a pain in the neck it is to go through a factory reset right?

I'm sorry this step is not your favorite ZUKZEKIM.  I can understand how much of a pain it can be to perform a factory reset but we try to make the process simply and seamless. If you backup all your data to the cloud, setting up your phone after the reset can be easy. Our goal is to get this issue resolved. We are unable to cancel your Device Payment Plan or accept the phone back after the 14-day return period. Please let us know when you've performed the factory reset. You can also activate an older phone online via My-Veriuzon if you're not ready to continue trouble-shooting your current phone issues. Let us know how you would like to proceed.
