Why is the MMS getting overloaded on my Galaxy S8+?

Well it's been almost 2 years since this started so I figured I'd take a look at the forum to see if Verizon has made any progress.  It looks like the original thread (here) is now closed along with others on the subject.  I'm amazed that this problem has continued for so long when so many people have explained exactly how to reproduce it: simply receive a bunch of MMS messages (such as during a busy group text) very quickly and you will then be unable to send/receive any MMS for ~20 minutes.  Afterwards the delayed messages will come flooding in (it's 100% reproducible on the Galaxy S6, 7, 8, and 9, but NOT on iPhones).  I've been using Whatsapp and other chat apps to avoid this problem as much as possible, but sometimes I get dragged into an MMS chat .

aarons44​ Thank you for posting that work around!  Putting on Airplane mode and wifi calling definitely fixes the problem but of course I need to be connected to wifi to do it.  Still, this is more help than I've found anywhere else!

Same exact issue on my S8. Used stock message, message+, google message all the same **bleep** problem. 

My buddy is on the same group text with an S8 and different carrier and has no issues. I have it ALL THE TIME.

That it hasn't been fixed or prioritized as a critical issue is astounding.

I have written about this in multiple threads.  It has been on here in various threads for years.   Verizon does nothing except the same beginning troubleshooting that never works.  Please do not respond before reading this thread and the 10 others like it.  Nothing is fixed years later.  same problem

I've had this same issue for years. Thought it was the messaging app, tried several different ones and nope, its not the app. In that time I upgraded from an S8+ to an S10+ and still happening on this phone. It has to be the network. When I am in a group chat and several people are messaging, especially people who like to send a lot of short messages in a row instead of type out a paragraph, the MMS on my entire phone hangs for about 10 minutes, with all my messages stuck in a "sending..." state, and nothing coming in. Then all of a sudden, boom, I get tens of messages I've missed while the MMS network was hung up.

Does this happen with both Messages app and Messages+ app? Do you have any issues with your data service? Are all these picture messages o just regular text messages?

This issue is related to the number. Not the software. I have gone through multiple models all with the mms issue. It's not the phone it's the number at the tower level. I have given up I love my number too much.
