Why update GS7/Edge before fixing?

Why was Nougat pushed out to Samsung GS7/Edge phones when the app lagging, freezing, and restarting discovered by those who received the update on the device over six months ago were obviously not fixed? I was looking forward to Nougat but it has effectively ruined my phone. As recommended on Android forums I did change Performance from Optimized to High Performance, and Power Saver was already off, but I am not turning WiFi off since I use it all the time and I shouldn't have to with a $750 phone and $52/mo payment to Verizon for one line. Apps still lag/freeze/restart.

DOGBODYSPEAKS,

I'm sorry to hear about your software update experience. We always want it to work like it's desinged. I am currently not finding any known issues for the new software to cause the Galaxy S7/Edge to malfunction with applications. Not worry, I'll be happy to help and look into this for you. Which specific applications are lagging, freezing and restarting? Are you getting an error message?

No.

Have you tried a system cache clear through the recovery menu?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Unfortunately, there is no way to go back to the previous OS.  Your experience with updating to Nougat, along with thousands of others who had problems, is the reason I still haven't done the update.

Dogbodys, Having the latest available software on your phone is important. Once the software has been updated, there's no option to revert back to the previous version.

Yes, I did that when I first researched the issue. And I did it again two

days ago just in case...didn't work, apps continue to (most often) go to

black then come back after around 5 seconds or (less often) restarting

altogether. And I have determined it occurs when I am imputing data -

writing a Comment on Facebook, moving letters around on Words With Friends,

etc. - rather than just scrolling. I also uninstalled the screen saver app

I was using, just in case it wasn't designed and/or updated for Nougat and

was using to much of the device's graphics resources, but it didn't help. I

updated all apps and it didn't help. Please advise.

Your are experiencing the kinds of difficulties and frustrations system updates often cause.  As I have often said here, this is why I still haven't done the Nougat update.

I didn't even realize it was the upgrade to Nougat, get enough system

updates between Verizon and Android to not pay too close attention and was

in the middle of something (durrrr). I usually wait a month or so for kinks

to be worked out when new Android version is released, this time it got me.
