I just upgraded from galaxy s3 to s5 and can't find the auto substitution list feature. Was that feature taken away on the S5?

MsGinaT,

Help has arrived! Are you referring to auto replacement for text messaging? If so, to enable this feature follow the steps listed below.

Here’s how to activate this:

1. First, return to any of S5’s Home screen.

2. Access your Apps list.

3. Launch the Settings app.

4. Navigate to System.

5. Choose Language and Input.

6. Select Samsung Keyboard.

7. Hit the Setting gear icon.

8. Now choose Auto replacement to set the S5 to correct misspelled and incomplete words by tapping the space bar or punctuation mark.

Let us know if this helps.

Bummer no that is not what I asking about.

On my galaxy s3 I did the following to access the auto substition list;

-Settings > language and input

-Samsung keyboard settings

-Predictive text

- Word list

-Auto substitution list

Example of what feature did;

When I typed the letters ty and pressed space bar would show thank you or if I typed gn & space bar would show good night.

It is a VERY cool feature and time huge saver that I used all the time.

Is that available on my galaxy s5?

MsGinaT,

I apologize for the confusion. What you're looking for is called auto replacement on the S5. Tap on Settings > Language and input > Click on the Settings by Samsung Keyboard > Auto Replacement. This option needs to be checked.

Keep us posted if you need further assistance.

So bottom line the auto substitution list feature is no longer available.

The auto replace is not close that feature it is more like predictive text cause I can not add words to it.

Thank you at least now I can stop trying to find it in my settings.

If u could please submit this as an enhancement request that would be great.

I think what you are looking for isn't called what you call it. Are you talking about a personal dictionary? If you type a word your phone doesn't know there's a check mark on the far left. You can also tap on predictive text(not the toggle) and it'll give you options where it can learn words from.
