google play music downloading constantly

Tried looking this up in google play, but getting no where. Maybe someone here has the answer. Several times a day I get a download symbol on my phone, says "downloading music, paused". I know for a fact there is nothing to download. I can swipe it away, but just wondering how do I disable it. If I disable google music does that mean I cannot play music from it? I have my library on that app.

Sounds like the application settings are waiting for you to be on wifi to finish whatever download it thinks is pending. Check the settings with in the application.

If you have any playlists or tracks you have pinned set to sync you'll see that error. If you disable the app then you cannot listen to the music from the cloud, but you can from another app if music is stored on your phone or card.
