my screen turns off after a second

I was using my phone on messenger video chat. was was getting hot while it was pluged into the charger. got off messenger and phone screen shut off. now it wont turn on display screen or display screen turns on for about a second then turns off. What is wrong and how to fix?

Have you let it cool down before turning on the screen again?

yes i let it cool all night turned it on in the morning worked for 10 mins then screen starts doing the same thing

Unfortunately going to probably have to do a factory reset if this is persisting even after confirming screen timeout set at something longer.... This could be a problem with the phone or might even be a negative interaction with a 3rd party app....

If this is still occuring after factory reset, you know something is wrong with the phone and will need  to look at replacement options....
