s3 32gig model stuck on 4.0.4 firmware.

Hi,

i keep seeing and hearing about new updates for 4.4,   my phone is stuck on 4.0.4

software update say  "service unavailable"

i did recently backup and wipe it back to factory defaults for other reasons,  however i still

get service unavailable.. 

cant i just download this from somewhere and apply it..  does it have to be OTA?

I had the exact same problem when I first got my S3 and the problem was the SIM Card.  Go to a Verizon Store and have them replace it.  I did and it fixed it instantly.
