Spam Messages on watch

So, I got a new galaxy watch 4. It's been a little over two weeks and I'm still on the fence about it, as everything it does seems "gimmicky" more than anything. My main problem, besides the overall glitching and the fact that no one seems to know how anything about this watch works include the reps I've talked to, is the relentless spam. I get spam messages 2-3 times a day. Everything from my imaginary prescriptions being filled to messages about joining Ray's Swim Team. Oh, and reebok, oh my god reebok. The messages are so unwanted and frequent that I'll literally never buy anything from them again. Like, is the watches stand alone number actually just so Verizon can load you down with unsolicited ads and just another number to get spam calls on (before it was just messages, the calls started today)? Because so far, that's all it seems to be good for. No one from Verizon can tell me how to stop this, and if I can't, this watch is going back and I'm going after a fitbit.
