I have sent repeated e-mails to Samsung and they consistently state: "we are working to make the Android 2.2/Froyo upgrade available to all U.S. Galaxy S owners as soon as possible".... I will continue to believe this upgrade is right around the corner....all the tech sites I visit suggest the upgrade is close at hand......

Can't discuss it here but there are walkthroughs at androidcentral.com and xda-developers.com under the fascinate sections. There is nothing definitive that EB01 will be the officialy update pushed from Verizon whenever they decide to.

EB01 seems pretty "finalized" and reports over there are that it is running great and seems ready for primetime, but I hope there's one more revision. A revision that fixes the following:
1. Video/TV output via 3.5mm jack, as other Galaxy S variants have
2. The bluetooth and audio jack call silencing problem, which is also actually a safety hazard and a detriment to a truly hands free experience
This phone has been out long enough that Verizon/Samsung have NO EXCUSE for a problem like this. I've seen one poster saying that his works, but I've never gotten it to work on my Fascinate, regardless of updates, system wipes, settings, what model/brand of bluetooth or audio cable, etc. My wife just got a brand new Fascinate for Valentine's Day. Same problem. I called Verizon. They said that they are aware of the problem, and the rep assured me that it would be fixed in the next update to the Fascinate.
It's not fixed in either leak of 2.2.1 for the Fascinate. That's why I'm hoping we get one more release. I can live without the video out, even though it would be nice and I would use it. But having to pull the audio connector out of the jack while you're driving down the road just to take a call over a legitimately connected bluetooth headset is ASININE. Never had this problem with the DX or the Eris. The Fascinate came out in 2010. Some states are making it a law to use only hands free kits while driving or get a ticket. This needs to be fixed.

Honestly, it'll be worth the wait: I've been running 2.2 on my Epic for months now, and being able to use 2.2-only apps (such as Skype for Android, the wifi version of Skype, or the HD youtube app) is a godsend. Flash is nice too. And the new compiler makes the phone FLY.

I have been a verizon wireless fan for quite a few years...swtich'd from Sprint and even convinced my entire family to switch....BUT since I have gotten my Fascinate, my trust in Verizon Wireless has dropped significantly. We are "valued" customers should be trusted as Valued customers.
How can We be so dedicated to a companyy who COULDN'T CARE LESS about its people who pay their paychecks? I want answers as to why we are waiting for so long for everything when other providers such as T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T are all releasing updates for their Galaxy S phones? Are we nothing more than a pile of crud to Verizon?
I want to know why we are stuck in contracts with a company who doesn't follow through with their part of the contract and committments?
Why would I buy another Galaxy S product such as the tablet when they can't follow through with updates to our current Galazy S devices? Who would want the same treatment for those devices too? I WANT OUT! Thanks VZW for being so UNDEDICATED to your "valued" customers.
Attention all: There are other providers who will give you a bill credit for switching to them...just to help pay the "disconnect fees" you are required to pay VZW for leaving during a contract. I think I am heading out!

"I want to know why we are stuck in contracts with a company who doesn't follow through with their part of the contract and committments?"
Hmmmm to what part of the contract or committments have they not followed through with? No where in the contract does it ever say that you are entitled to, or promised software updates on your device. Does your phone make and receive calls/texts? Can you browse the web, download apps, and such other things? If you answered yes to these then VZW has fullfilled their obligations to you, you pay for a service...they in turn provide it. Nothing more, nothing less. That's the biggest problem with this country is the "Self Entitlement" attitude we as American's have so poorly adopted. And you aren't stuck in the contract at all you can cancel service at anytime.

VZW offers this as well. Don't let the Big Red Door hit you on the way out!!!

Are you for real dude? if you pay to get new tires on ur toyota, drive home and make it a quarter mile before your wheels fall off. will the mechanic in turn say to you that he is not at fault because you only wanted new tires and didnt say anything about tightening the lug nuts? {please keep your posts courteous}. i didnt pay 275 bucks plus 70 a month for a phone that ONLY sends msgs and makes calls, and freezes and guides me to housing complexes instead of the gas station it was trying to find...

See that's the problem, VZW continue to use loose terms like, "its just around the corner" it was just around the corner last fall. As far as I am concern their statements hold no weight.

Hey Verizon, When are we going to get what was PROMISED? Please don't become the carrier of greed and incompetence! we still have a glimmer of faith in you although fading.
