Can someone help me out and tell me what the update was this morning.  I accidentally closed the update before I could read what it was about.  Thanks

Did you install the update or no? If you did the update, look in "SETTINGS | ABOUT PHONE | FIRMWARE VERSION and post online what it is.

I'm guessing it's probably EA28 (with the emergency dialing fix).  If the Build Number on About Phone says DL09 or DI01, you aren't on the latest 2.1 update.  To update go to About Phone-System Updates-Check New.  Make sure Wifi is off.

I guarantee it's just the emergency dialing fix. If they were pushing 2.2 already we'd be seeing VzW's update slick and AndroidCentral would be all over it like a fat kid on cake.

you all act like samsung is so terrible. htc released the eris ~november 2009, it didn't have 2.1 until may 14th the following year. the fascinate has gotten numerous updates since it was released, and it's still under the 6 month it took htc to release a new os. so, stop complaining.

and google released 2.1 in january 2010, 4 months time to get it to the phone on the eris, and it only had a few models to it. the galaxy s is a huge line of phones. this phone's only been out for 4 months and we already have froyo.

The eris got 2.1 so late because it's an entry-level phone, the manufacturers don't generally commit to frequent, rapid updates on low-end hardware.

The Galaxy S line is over 6 months old now, and are high-end phones. Even the motorola droid, which was 8 months old when froyo was released, got froyo rapidly.

The whole issue is that Samsung coded touchwiz like a bunch of **bleep** and has it tie deeply into the functioning of the hardware. If the manufacturers would just write their overlays like how ADW/Launcherpro work, we wouldn't have these half-year delays on high-end phones getting current software.
