Verizon announced "Nationwide" (lower band) 5G access on Oct 13. Since the "Ultra" (high) band won't be accessible in my location, I was glad the Nationwide coverage map showed it was locally available. But, I just discovered that my SM-976V was made in August 2019 with the older Qualcomm X50 modem that connects only to the high band. So, after spending a lot on the SM-976V that was advertised as a 5G device, I get no such connectivity. I believe customers should have been informed of the modem and limited access issue. Have others been impacted with this problem? Does anyone have a suggestion for getting satisfaction from Verizon and/or Samsung?

They will give you the runaround. You can upgrade your device. It is not their fault they sold you a device they knew they would not support. The other major carriers have the note 10 plus 5g with the X55 modem your device the X50 it only supports MMwave. The 5g your device supports is 5gUW that system may never be nationwide it is currently only available in select cities. It is basically a case of being taken advantage of for being an early entrant in the verizon 5g experiment. Maybe you can find a reasonable representative to find you a resolution that doesn't make you feel taken advantage of but I doubt it. I was unable to. This experience has left me feeling not appreciated. I never want to hear a representative ever say
" Thank You for being the best part of us." Because I know that is just a LIE I mean Iine. Excuse Me.

I am having the same issue I've been waiting for an update for my note10+ 5g so I can get the low grade 5g in my area (I live in the Phoenix are and it is available here) I bought 2 of these devices a year ago hoping that when 5g did become nation wide I would be able to access it as many have already stated in this thread cost a considerable amount more. Just through reading this thread I am finding out that i will not be getting an update for this and im rather upset that I've been waiting this long simply to be disappointed 😞 I hope they find a satisfying solution to this issue I've been left sour by this this experience with verizon as I am a new subscriber as of last year I decided to switch to Verizon for the 5g and now can't even get it. Truly sad

I would like to know what the options are for those of us who bought the Note 10+ 5G and now cannot use the nationwide 5G. I came from another carrier only to watch everyone else get 5G and now this incompatibility on a very expensive phone that was touted as the 5G flagship is unacceptable.

Ensuring that your device is able to connect to our 5G Nationwide network is very important, leon67. So we're on the same page, which model of the Samsung Note 10 do you have? - GregL_VZW

I feel duped, I left Tmobile after 15 years because I was excited to get in on the 5g network. Now I'm stuck with a Note 10+ that was advertised as 5g capable. I will definitely be going back to Tmobile after I pay off this expensive "4g" phone.

Bell71056,
We understand this news is upsetting. This device is capable of accessing our 5G Ultra Band or 5G UW network. This is service is currently available in 50 cities and expanding. We would never want you to leave us and you are welcome to upgrade at any time.

5g UW is a joke, this is false advertising. I'm almost paid off and back to tmobile I go. This will just be an upsetting and expensive two year experiment with Verizon. I feel like Tmobile was at least up front about messing up you over.

VZW uses mm wave 5G, so you have to be in a distance where you can be able to physically see the 5G network tower to use 5G. If you are not able to see it, you are either too far from the tower or 5G can't go through the walls or its too far.
also, you need 5G plan with 5G sim card in 5G area.

I do pay for 5G service now, but for my phone that's only available in very small parts of downtown and minute maid park, that's not what I was told when I bought the phone, I was told 5G was rolling out nation wide and would be everywhere within a few months, now I find out it is but not the version that's compatible with the phone they sold me, this whole thing stinks of deceptive business practices and false advertising and I do not think it falls under the legal definition of "Puffery" either, so I think a good case for misrepresentation can be made!

Definitely sounds like we've been given the run around and been falsely advertised to. I think we should form a class and like suit.

RonaldReynoldsJr,
We understand that this news is upsetting. The phone is 5G capable, just not with our Nationwide 5G. Most of our plans include the 5G Ultra Wideband service with their plan. The 5G UW will be expanding going forward.

We deeply apologize for any confusion caused by us, Theol1960. We never want to provide incorrect information about any phones that we offer. We are here to help.
There are different versions of the Samsung Note 10. Only one version has the 5G network capabilities and that is the Note 10 Plus 5G model https://www.verizon.com/smartphones/samsung-galaxy-note-10-plus-5g/
When this phone was sold as a new phone, it included a 4G SIM card since the 5G SIM cards were not yet available. If you have that model phone, then you can get a Free 5G SIM card by visiting any corporate store location or we can order you one as well.
Does this information help?
