Verizon announced "Nationwide" (lower band) 5G access on Oct 13. Since the "Ultra" (high) band won't be accessible in my location, I was glad the Nationwide coverage map showed it was locally available. But, I just discovered that my SM-976V was made in August 2019 with the older Qualcomm X50 modem that connects only to the high band. So, after spending a lot on the SM-976V that was advertised as a 5G device, I get no such connectivity. I believe customers should have been informed of the modem and limited access issue. Have others been impacted with this problem? Does anyone have a suggestion for getting satisfaction from Verizon and/or Samsung?

A year after this post and I am just now realizing that we were sold something that will never connect as 5G. The least Verizon can do is give us back the extra $$ we paid for the 5g they falsely advertised. Spent 8 hours of being dropped by 6 reps to be informed of this. Total waste of time and money.

Contacted Verizon customer service got a 5G SIM card then waited for them to push an update to my device to enable 5G which never came took a peek at the APN settings and there is no 5G listed under network. I suspect a class action lawsuit unless something is done about this false advertisement.

5pacey, it is important to have the correct details regarding your device. 5G devices such as the Note 10 that were manufactured prior to 2020 are eligible to utilize 5G Ultra Wide band service, however are not compatible with 5G Nationwide at this time.

I have Note 10+ 5g and was also under the Assumption when buying it last October that 5g roll out in the future would be covered if I got the 5g note. But come to find out it is not after getting my daughter the Iphone 12 pro max from you guys and changing to individual plans. Is there anything you can do to fix this false Promotion that was pushed buy sales reps at your stores. Even if it possible to trade my Note in for New one that covers both 5g bandwidths you offer and just pay for new phone my loss on year paid on my note 10+ 5g?

I do understand the frustration of the Note 10 5G device being incompatible with our new 5G Nationwide service. However, the device is still compatible with our 5G Ultra-wide service and should still have no problem with the already existing 4G Nationwide service. - NicholasS_VZW

How about a message from Verizon support for me. I have complained to many times to count and still have no access to 5g with my note 10+ 5g. I just want to be able to use what I am paying for.

Hello, JerryD413. Our 5G Nationwide is a service that not all devices are compatible with. This service comes at no included cost to all of our plans, and you don't have to worry about paying an additional fee for a service not compatible with your phone. If you're looking for a phone that is able to connect to the 5G Nationwide network, we'd be happy to help. DavidR_VZW

I paid for a Note 10 5G+ and was told when I bought it there would be 5G working on my phone by the end of 2020. The map shows 5G is available in Phoenix but my phone is not connecting to 5G. You should at least buy out my phone so I can upgrade.

That's some entitled demand.
Whenever I build a new PC, I don't demand Intel or AMD to give me the newer processor the following year. 5G UW is still in its infancy stage as far as I'm concerned. Nationwide 5G is beaten by 4G as reported by several customers getting slower service.
By the time 5G is actually worth it, your phone would be long considered obsolete. I don't see my S20 gaining much from 5G over its lifespan either, but I didn't buy it for Verizon's weak 5G network.

It's a reasonable demand, I was told the sane thing by Verizon, that the extra $400 I paid for the "5G" version of the phone would work with "5G", never did they tell me it would only work with an obscure version of 5G that only works in certain sports stadiums and on two street corners downtown if you are facing the right direction and standing on one foot! It's been well over a year now and if they're rapidly expanding the nationwide "5G" then they are obviously prioritizing that over the UW they sold to customers first. They either knew that UW was going to take years to actually be usable or decided it was too expensive and abandoned it, so us customers shouldn't be left holding the bag here! To use a computer analogy, if Intel sold you a quad core cpu for an extra $400 that they promised would be unlocked via a firmware update to 8 cores within a few months and a year later you were still waiting and in top of that they started selling the 8 core version for the same price or cheaper wouldn't you feel cheated?

Hey, mdc5150! We would be happy to help get your phone running on 5G! When you got your Note 10 5G, did you activate a new 5G SIM card with that phone? If you used a 4G SIM card your phone would activate but wouldn't be able to access 5G.

So what's funny is my Dad's phone is a new Samsung A20 5G FE that retails for about half of my "Premier first on the block 5G phone" Note 10+5G with 5G plan for over year and his phone shows 5G at the top even with mine sitting next to it. I got the old,"its just a boosted 4G signal. Funny thing is my phone seems to be SLOWER uploading or downloading anything since they rolled out 5G low band. I've been with Verizon 21 yrs and I'm seriously ticked off. Should have kept my old Note..
