Verizon announced "Nationwide" (lower band) 5G access on Oct 13. Since the "Ultra" (high) band won't be accessible in my location, I was glad the Nationwide coverage map showed it was locally available. But, I just discovered that my SM-976V was made in August 2019 with the older Qualcomm X50 modem that connects only to the high band. So, after spending a lot on the SM-976V that was advertised as a 5G device, I get no such connectivity. I believe customers should have been informed of the modem and limited access issue. Have others been impacted with this problem? Does anyone have a suggestion for getting satisfaction from Verizon and/or Samsung?

I just got done talking to sales people at a T-Mobile store the other day about this issue. My device payments ended last month. I paid extra and pre-ordered a device I was told was cutting edge, 5G capable. I double checked and questioned the person at corporate about the device, and data prices, and plans, what would it be once service was rolled out ect.. 2 years down the road now.. nothing..
No 5G service. Why did I pay extra for a 5G device that wont be able to have 5G? Im seriously considering moving service to another company.

I chatted with customer service this afternoon and they pretty much blew me off. This phone is a Samsung Note 10+ 5g that we all paid about $400 extra for 5g. It's not "5g UW". This should cover all 5g on the Verizon network including 5g nationwide. All our phones should be replaced with either a Note 10+ capable of the new 5g or a Note 20 Ultra, which should be equivalent. If you didn't want to include this new "5g" in the same category as 5g UW, you should have called it 4g+. If not, I see a class action lawsuit in your future.

That is my thought process. Verizon is not providing options for customers besides pay more then upgrade if you want the service.

I tried to work out a solution with Verizon via private messaging. They replied the device was promoted for UW. I researched the 2019 ad. In the fine print, UW service was barely mentioned. Instead, the ads emphasized a growing 5G network, but failed to clarify the UW service and this device would always be extremely limited in utility for most customers. The device was not built to serve a broad customer base, but was aggressively promoted as 5G ready. Verizon issued a "special offer" of $350-450 if I trade in/upgrade the device. But, their website offers more ($550). And even that amount is unacceptable. Without a fair remedy, it appears necessary to take other action.

So who's going to start the class action lawsuit? Members on another very active thread were all agreeing to join a class action lawsuit but a moderator closed the thread today "due to age". It was false advertising from the start and we all got stuck with the high price of paying $1,300 for a phone that didn't deliver the service we were expecting. They need to learn from their manipulation... next time advertise your 5g services better, Verizon. 5g was so new at the time, you should've very well known that your customers weren't aware that you offer two types of 5g service. Again, because you didn't advertise the phone appropriately. I've been with this company for 10 years. Shame on you, Verizon, your loyal customers are upset and you aren't offering us a fair remedy. Perhaps we wouldn't consider a class action lawsuit if you were doing the right thing and addressing the problem properly and fairly. It's going to end up costing you more in the long run. I can't be silenced by a thread being closed "due to age". I doubt any of us can... we've been manipulated.

Good luck that. Make sure you and your lawyer reviews the Customer Agreement for the wireless services of Verizon Wireless.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

DudeNMesa22, we never want you to feel we were doing any type of false advertising. We always want to be transparent and I apologize for any confusion for our devices and our 5G Nationwide compatibility. Any device that was manufactured in 2019 or earlier was not designed for our 5G Nationwide network because we were yet to launch that part of the 5G Network. Devices manufactured in 2020 had to have a software update to become compatible. I again want to apologize for any confusion or misinterpretation of our devices and 5G compatibility.-Santo

So basically we were lied to? I finally upgraded when the Note 10+ 5G first released. And have had multiple SIMS and talks with them saying it'll work soon.

It will never work, they figured out how expensive 5GUW was going to be and switched to a cheaper technology, leaving us loyal customers holding the bag...

So why not give us the difference we paid extra for the note 10 5G on top of the trade-in value towards the purchase of a new phone?

Unfortunately, people should do their due diligence before they purchase a device. It was well advertised that the Note 10 5G was 5G UWB only and was being deployed in urban areas and cities. Going forward, most 5G phones should support most of the 5G technologies.

I have the same problem. I did get a new sim card at the store where I was assured that that will fix my issue. After reading all the posts I realize that the phone is not equipped for 5G Nationwide. Verizon will pay for new customers the phone bill of the old carrier, which includes the payments of the phone, but is not willing to fix the problems they have with their existing customers. I am not asking for a freebee. Just take the Note 10 back. Give me a credit for the remaining payment. Let me choose a new phone. I will gladly make the payments. So what do you have to loose Verizon. We really should think about a class action law suit.

harrisin11, the Samsung 10 Series while 5G Ultra Wideband capable is not compatible with Nationwide 5G. If outside of the worry free guarantee to return the phone it can not be given back and a credit applied. If under a current payment agreement the current phone can be bought out and a new one purchased if you are looking to get a 5G device.

I'm also looking for a resolution. I was sold a 5g phone and now I'm being told it's not that kind of 5g.
I've been having issues with both lines now on my account. If I can't be credited for the service and the phone I was sold, I will be looking at other services for my future business.
