2019 Samsung Note 10 can’t get Nationwide 5G - false advertising?

Verizon announced "Nationwide" (lower band) 5G access on Oct 13. Since the "Ultra" (high) band won't be accessible in my location, I was glad the Nationwide coverage map showed it was locally available. But, I just discovered that my SM-976V was made in August 2019 with the older Qualcomm X50 modem that connects only to the high band. So, after spending a lot on the SM-976V that was advertised as a 5G device, I get no such connectivity. I believe customers should have been informed of the modem and limited access issue. Have others been impacted with this problem? Does anyone have a suggestion for getting satisfaction from Verizon and/or Samsung?

Rage2382, we understand the concern regarding your device capabilities. The 2019 Samsung Note 10 is compatible for 5G Ultrawideband where available, but is not compatible with Nationwide 5G as some other devices that were manufactured after. We are happy to look at possible upgrade options if you like for a device that is Nationwide 5G compatible. *Joshua

I'm not interested in a lowball trade in offer, I want my wife and I to get upgraded for free to an equivalent Note device that supports 5G like I was told when I bought these, otherwise once my contract is up I'm taking my $350 a month worth of business elsewhere.

RonaldReynoldsJr, device payment agreements must be fulfilled in order to upgrade devices. If you would like for us to review upgrade options, we can send you a Private Note message to continue. *Joshua

They don't care or don't have any options, just try and get me to add a line or do a very unfavorable trade in.

I feel although Verizon totally ripped me off. I paid for the best of the best in 2019 to buy a 5g phone. The Note 10+ 5g 512gig phone but 5g has never worked I have been on support with Verizon several times the even talked me in to a better package saying now it should work. So after costing more, getting a new 5g sim card and hors of support it still does not work. I have been reading now that it never worked and never could have. So Verizon just plain stole from me and continues to steal. Has anyone gotten satisfaction or do I have to begin with legal action?

I too am having this problem after being upgraded to a phone that was marketed as a "5g solution" and yet I cannot receive nationwide 5g in my area (it is available on the coverage map) and the nearest UW 5g (never even heard of the stuff) is in the next state over, I have a brand new Note 10+ 512 5G & a new sim card and I have tried to no avail to reach your 5g network...

What kind of solution do you have for this Verizon?

Your response is appreciated

We are so sorry to learn that you are not getting a 5G signal on your Note 10 phone. We are here to help. We do want you to be aware that Nationwide 5G service is similar to our 4G LTE service, so your experience with data speeds would be around the same with either signal.

What city and state are you located at? Did you order the new SIM card separately or did it come with your phone?

We ask because the default SIM card that is sent with the Note 10 may be a 4G SIM card and not a 5G one.

It's funny. A year later and there's still no 5G service. I can barely even get 4G service in San Diego. I can't believe I actually pay for this garbage with money I had to work for. I'm moving to Metro or something.

JUST MOVED TO AT&T FOLKS AND I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER! 2.5 YEARS after buying TWO of the Note 10+ 5G in August, 2019 from Verizon, with the promise of 5G in two months (Oct 2019) I still don't have 5G and I learned only a few days ago (Christmas 2021!) that I never will with this phone. Even this past summer Verizon had me change my phone, then they told me "Oh, your phone doesn't have a 5G SIM card? Well that's the problem!" But it wasn't. Even after getting a new 5G SIM card and 10's of hours wasted on this very issue, still no resolution. If I had just known, I would have just bought another phone because I run a business and the money I lost in TIME would have paid for two new phones if not more.
Needless to say, I was recently in the fortunate position of having all 3 lines on my verizon account with paid off devices, so I had Verizon unlock them and good-bye! I'm now an AT&T customer. You just lost a 25 Year loyal customer - at one point I used to pay over $800 per month through my Verizon business plan. It's mind-boggling how these people stay in business the way they treat their customers. I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years I see Verizon written on a gravestone.

A lot of Trust Lost, 20+ year customer and Yeah, feeling really lousy about Verizon. Spent $1000 for the promise of 5G and more in plan charges.

The narrative that the Note 10 5G was based on old tech is almost fraudulent.  The decision to change "technologies" was politics and economics.  The Note 10+ 5G had the more advanced tech!

The new "5G" Ultra, which is basically pumped up 4G, is because cities would not allow for all the towers and theories of health issue with the mm band 5G.

Truly was a bait and switch deal when I bought this phone.

I have the same complain regardgthe galaxy s10 5g phone. Verizon advertised it as a 5g phone. Didnt mention anything about not compatible with 5g nationwide. After many calls and chats with verizon tech support for 8 to 10 months of trying to figure out the problem,  they finally advised that the phone is not compatible. I feel misled. And all of their tech support staff had no clue that it wasnt compatible.

I bought this stupid phone as soon as it came out like everyone else in anticipation for 5G. Now several years later this garbage has issues getting ANY connection because it bounces back and forth between 4gLTE and 5G (which NEVER works). I too contacted tech support and they sent me a new SIM claiming it would fix the problem... yea, nope. Bow that's I see it will never work and I wasted $$ on something I'll never get, I just switched to Xfinity for basically the same service but MUCH MUCH cheaper and savings on my Comcast services. I'm so utterly disappointed with Verizon.
