When you plug the phone into the car/desk dock, does the car/desk cradle app start up? If so, there is a little speaker button to the right of the "Exit" button, you need to hit that button, and it will tell you to make sure you are plugged into your speaker system. I missed that button after the 2.2 update, and then after taking my time one day, saw the button there.

If the button is not there, the phone is not seeing the dock. Try turning off the phone, pulling the battery, restart your phone, and then try it on the dock to see if that fixes it.

Hello ChristinaB_VZW,

I am having similar issues with both my car dock and desk dock. I am trying to use a wired headset. On both the car dock and desk dock, when I pick on the speaker icon, it tells me to "connect the speaker to the accessory."

On the desk dock, I can hear nothing thru the headset at all, nor does anything play through the phone's earpiece nor speaker.

On the car dock, I can hear system sounds and media sounds through my earpiece. (e.g., notification sounds, game sounds, dialing the numbers for a phone call.) But once a call actually connects, the ringing and phone call itself can only be heard through the phone's earpiece. (Speaker function does work as well.)

So, essentially, I can't plug my phone in while driving and use the earpiece at the same time. Or, rather, I can, but I have to turn it sideways, not using the sliding insert, which sort of defeats the purpose of having it.

Please help!

Not applicable

Hallybee, thank you for your inquiry. I checked and I did see other people having this issue and saw some info that this ability would possibly be released in a software update, but still not available. I saw one other customer say they tried an application from the Market that seemed to work for them. It is Galaxy Dock Sound Redirector. The application is free and has good reviews in the Market, so it doesn't hurt to try it. Keep in mind that this is a 3rd party application, so VZW does not support it in any way. This is just a workaround until a permanent fix is created for the phone.

The Galaxy speaker redirect app does not work on the Droid 3. The solution then is to turn speaker phone off (speaker button) for audio and mic use on calls. By default, speaker phone is enabled in dock mode.
