Does anyone have an inside scoop of when verizon is going to release the 4.4.4 update that other carriers started pushing a couple weeks ago. Not looking foe an exact date, Just an idea if it's going to be weeks or months.

Samsung isn't going to release proprietary information to the general public. When all the testing is completed by the FCC, Samsung, Hardware manufacturers and the carrier the device is used, then and only then is the update ready to be announced and pushed to the devices.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I wasn't asking Samsung.  Why would I ask Samsung a Verizon question?  Samsung had already released the 4.4.4 update.  I'm going to assume your answer is no, you don't know.

Samsung makes the OS updates. It's their device. No I don't know and no else does either. That's my point. Samsung lists on it site which version are on which carriers so Verizon would tell them before anyone. The only ones at Verizon that might know are the one's testing SAMSUNG'S update. So unless a tester wants to spill the beans then no one will know until right before it happens.

if you dont know the answer, Mr. Helper, why cop an attitude, and give false information, when they were asking a simple question. if you dont have the answer, then there is no need for your response. you help nobody, unless you work for verizon, i would say you should not answer the questions. leave it to the employees who actually know what they are speaking of.

I DID NOT cop an attitude the OP did. I merely correct his statement that other carrierS, with an S, was false. Since there is only ONE that has it. Then HE got all uppity. Please go back and re-read the thread and you'll see I did nothing wrong.

Thank you brittbratt13.  My thoughts exactly.  And no, I didn't have an attitude mrhelper.  I was simply redirecting the conversation back to the original question instead of this rabbit hole of splitting hairs on the quantity of other carriers.  The point is you don't know.  That is all I needed to know.

As for your "original point", it would have been much better said that Samsung is told before anyone else so they would be the person to ask instead of "if Samsung doesn't know one else does either".  I've never heard of that before and actually I'm quite curious what Samsung is going to say when I get over there.  I'm not an expert by any means but my money is going to be on their answer being "Why are you asking us?  We've already released 4.4.4 weeks ago.  If you want to know when Verizon is releasing it, then go ask them".

You did finally answer my second question which is you don't know so thanks for that.

So I'm understanding correctly,  Verizon makes their changes to the 4.4.4 that Samsung has released, then they have to send back to Samsung for their approval of the changes and then Verizon releases the update?

Verizon doesn't touch the code. They will only test it to certify it for the Verizon Wireless network. Samsung does the coding. Why everyone keeps complaining to Verizon Wireless when they have nothing to do with designing and programming the updates I will never understand. Hound the manufacturer not service provider.

I'll take your response one line at a time.   Verizon doesn't touch the code?  My only response is hmm.

We all here know that the code originates from Samsung.

So far the only complaining on this post had been from people who are not even answering the question but instead complaining that the question has been asked.

Why would I hound the manufacturer? They have already released the update.

It's pretty clear your answer is also I don't know.   To rephrase the question for you though. ... so when is Verizon going to be done testing the update to make sure it works on their network?

Back when you and I had Moto Droid Razrs (Maxx or regular) you remember when there was a Motorola Feedback Community for soak testers?  Does Samsung have anything like that?

Yes they have testing. However it's private and not shown off like Motorola, and HTC has theirs.

I thought it was always:  Google ->Manufacturer->Carrier->Consumer.  I knew VZW had to test it out, but I always thought that they had to make whatever changes to the overall end update such as with LG G2 owners our menus and some appearances (colors, switches, and features)  were changed to appear differently than T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint.

Yeah, that is what I always thought.

Look at HTC, Sony, and Motorola update process. The names are different but each stage are the same.

Manufacturers talk to carriers about certain things, but carriers do not touch the code only test it against their network near the end of the process. Everything else is done by the manufacturer from start to carrier testing. That preinstalled bloatware people call it is still done by the manufacturer from the start. Carriers don't put it in themselves.

Verizon puts all kinds of bloat on their phones....a lot of VZW branded stuff.  IE: Accessories, Tones, Navigator, NFL Mobile, Support and Protection, Location Agent, Sync Service.  Anything that is a non-system app that CANT be uninstalled is bloat according to me.  But, yes I also see a lot of other bloat which may or may not be a part of the manufacturer's design such as Amazon, Audible, Life Square, other app stores, and more.  I know I have some 2-22 apps disabled and several more I wish I could disable.
