Android 2.3 Gingerbread - WHEN!

the subject says it all.  Verizon is the last hold out for 2.3   Telus finally got it.  I don't care what product you have coming out.  If you can't support active product then you don't deserve my future purchases and renewed contract.  Especially, when the unlimited data plans are gone.

That is not the point, the OP was about Verizon sending the supported update of Gingerbread to the Fascinate phones. There are alot of people who do not want to do it themselves.

Very true NuDroidUsrr.  I'm very capable of rooting the phone and updating the ROM.  I even asked for help from the first responder to my post and the moderator removed it.  Fair enough.  They don't want their phones hacked.  Still the point is right on....Verizon should support their equipment.  They continue to sell the Fascinate New and Referb, therefore, they should update the firmware.

If they think by not doing so will encourage a purchase of a new phone at the end of my contract then their crazy.  I like the Samsung Galaxy Note, but why contend with either when support is lame.  I was a Sprint & HTC fan, but their services were spotty at times.  If they get their 4G and improved coverage here then I might migrate back.  At least I received updates.

What I thought amazing was the removal of my post yet in their private email never said we're working this issue or passing on my point to anyone.  So, Verizon, are you so big that you can subjugate customers to poor support?  That was a rhetorical question.

Google enjoys some of this drama as Android is so fragmented amongst vendors.

Oh, and a two year contract for me is $3600.  Whats the cancellation fee.  Another rhetorical question....I know the answer.

I understand.  But remember, VZW or Samsung has never said they were going to release Gingerbread for the Fascinate.  And if they do it will be full of bloatware you can't remove causing slow downs, freezes, and less space for the things you want.  I was just saying there are options out there that will make the Fascinate a great phone.

To each their own.

If they ever do release it I will not put it on until it has been proven to work

My phone is running great on ED05 and after the run around I have had getting a working phone I will not risk it

I do not trust Samsung or Verizon

Good Day

Well, Samsung hired Cyanogen so there is a good chance that GIngerbread will work.

All they need to do now is get JT on board and it will work and be released in a timely manner as well 😄

I agree. I just got a Samsung Fascinate and after doing some Droid research, I can't believe that it doesn' have Gingerbread yet. Gingerbread came out December of 2010 and it looks as though Ice Cream Sandwich will be released in October/November! Verizon needs to get their behinds in gear!

Gingerbread would be nice. I think that since vzw stop selling new we will nver see it. Like they are working on the battery drain in another thread. Don't think they really care after the last software update went out.
