This past Sunday my wife and I both upgraded from Droid 3's to the Note 3's. Prior to the upgrade our call quality was great, no issues at all. Since we upgraded to the Note 3's, just like the Sprint customers are complaining about, the calls received are garbled, cut out, chirp... quite annoying and hard to have a conversation. It is the same on both phones, not just one or the other. Anyone we call seems to hear us just fine, but the quality coming in hearing other people talk is terrible. I called Verizon and the first lady I spoke with text'd me an 800 number and told me to call back because at the time I was actually on my phone with no alternate phone to use so that they could troubleshoot the phones. When I called that number, the new lady I spoke with told me that it's not the network so has to be the phones themselves and that I could go get different phones since I'm within my 14 days... not different Note 3's, but different model all together... no troubleshooting or anything, just said it was the phone and to get a different one...
Is anyone else having call quality issues, and if so, is Verizon aware of it? It seems to be the same issue that Sprint customers are complaining about, so I am thinking it is a software issue on Samsung's side of things? Anyone have any suggestions, or just wait it out until there's a software or firmware update?

I am having the same issues with my Note 3. Seems like it's an issue with the phone itself and not any of the carriers. I really love the phone and the sound quality with music and video playback is great. This ONLY seems to happen during a phone call. I'm thinking about contacting Samsung to see what kind of a response I get from them. I've only had my Note for 3 days and nothing I do seems to work. Believe me when I say I've tried everything. I hope there is a software fix that they can do and it's not a hardware issue.

It's disturbing to still see this issue being reported! I pre-ordered my Note 3 and ended up selling it in January due to this very issue! Has it still not been resolved? Are newer devices affected too? I have an oppurtunity to get a cell phone through my job and was very much missing the size, pen and multiwindow on the Note 3, so I was thinking of grabbing uit again. However, if it is still plagued by this issue I may need to rethink this

It appears there are at least 3 separate threads involving this topics:

I've had my Note 3 for about a month: at work and at home signal strength shows 1-2 bars, am able to call and 4G internet access is usually good (drops to 3G occasionally but use LTE Discovery to bounce back). However, in same zip code but about 4 miles east of my home where phone shows 4 bars, i cannot make or receive calls, although still have good internet access. Verizon sent me a replacement phone but experienced the same problem. Have opened a trouble ticket with Verizon technical support to check their network. Given the significant amount of discussion regarding various call/service issues with the Note 3, I am concerned that Verizon/Samsung does not have a solution, and I need my Note 3 to work as a phone. I assume if Verizon cannot technically fix this they will have to offer some other solution.

I moved from T-Mobile recently and purchased a Note 3. I can hardly understand the callers on the other side of the phone. I am a realtor and all over town in multiple zip codes. I cannot believe the poor voice quality. It looks like everyone else on this forum experiences the same thing. Has a solution to this problem been provided yet?

Hello ionheavens,
Help is just a posting away! I'm excited to partner with you and get your service working properly. Let's start with what zip code(s) are you having issues in? If you can provide 2 - 3 zip codes then that would be great. Also, what android and software version do you have on the Note 3? Can I assume that there isn't ant physical or liquid damage on the device? As you share the details then we can get this resolved for you.
Thank you...

In my opinion, the phones are just plain defective. You'll have to get a different phone (not a replacement Note 3) to solve the problem. Neither Samsung nor Verizon is going to publicly admit that the Verizon Note 3 has poor reception. They'll just keep running you through troubleshooting and replacement phones until you give up. I love how they're happy to sell you a booster to [possibly] get a usable signal on your house. It's too bad because I really wanted a Note 3. I was in the sticks when it was released and I planned to pick one up as soon as I got back to civilization. Fortunately, the reviews were in by then and the garbled call complaints and low signal strength reports warned me off.

mdhorn, thanks for keeping us posted. Service can be challenging indoors. You confirmed that this issue only happens at your residence. However, you also have issues with staying connected to Wi-Fi there too. The last resort to resolve these problems would be to hard reset it to ensure that are no software issues. http://vz.to/PTQNYF Keep us posted.

I purchased a Note 3 in April 2014. I previously had an iPhone 5c with Verizon. The service with my iPhone was great at my home and elsewhere. Since I received my Note 3 I cannot receive phone calls or send/receive text messages from my home. I also have an issue with the connection to the wifi in my home. The connection repeatedly gets interrupted and then it connects back to the wifi at my home for a brief period. Very frustrated with this issue!! I switched from AT&T after approximately 10 years of service because I had been told how great the coverage was with Verizon! Extremely disappointed and rethinking the switch from AT&T!

You made the right choice switching, mdhorn. I'm here to help make sure you stay with Verizon! The WiFi trouble you described sounds like a common setting in the phone was turned on that causes the phone to switch back to the mobile network when WiFi is poor or fluctuating. Please go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Tap the Menu Key (to the left of the home button) > Select Advanced and it is called "Auto network switch." Turn this off and let us know if that helps with your WiFi. As for calls and text, do you get an error message when trying to call or send a text out? Is the trouble only when you're inside of your home? What's your zipcode?

I went into the wifi settings and the box for auto network switch was not checked. Not sure what else it may be. As for calls and texts, I do get an error saying message failed or no network. I live in 48642 zip code.

mdhorn,
Thank you for checking to see if "Auto Network Switch" was checked. Your area for the zipcode you provided looks clear. If you are not connected to wifi on your device does it show 4G? Do have any issues in any other areas with your signal? Have you tried to remove and reinsert your SIM? http://vz.to/RLfA36

If I am not connected to wifi on my device at my house, the 4g does appear on my phone. The signal is not great in a lot of places; however, the signal is nonexistent in my home. I have removed and reinserted the SIM card and this has no effect.

mdhorn,
I appreciate the details and the steps you have taken to resolve it. We will continue to work on it to ensure we have a resolution. To confirm, when you're at home and wifi is off, you do see the 4G indicator but no signal bars? Do any other VZW phones at home have the same problem?

I apologize, I was not accurate in my last post. I was not at home when I responded. When I arrived home, I turned off the wifi and the phone indicates 1x. I am not sure what that means. I have no signal (circle with the line through it) for the most part. If I wander around the house I sometimes get 1 bar. If I turn the wifi on, it bounces me out repeatedly. My husband and my son also have phones from Verizon. My husband has a Samsung Galaxy S4. His service is not great; however, he has at least one bar at the house. When my husband turns off the wifi, his phone indicates 3G. He does not have the same problem with the wifi bouncing him out repeatedly. My son has an iphone 5 with Verizon. His service is the best of all of us. He usually has 2 bars at least. With wifi off, my son's phone indicates 3G. He does not have the same problem with the wifi bouncing him out repeatedly.
At a loss on what to try! Love the new phone but hate that I really cannot use it when I'm home!

Thanks for all the information mdhorn. I know this is frustrating but we will definitely continue to do all we can to make sure you get the service you deserve. Have you tried a SIM pull for your devices? If not, here are the steps for the Galaxy S4 http://vz.to/1idHOgk, & Note 3 http://vz.to/RLfA36 . Also, have we filed a trouble-ticket for your area? After a hard reset, the ticket would be the last step in having our technicians investigate the area. Lastly, you can also purchase a network extender to boost signal inside. Here is some information about the accessory http://vz.to/IHRT6h.

Since the update my Note 3 is very very slow. I have already called this in and of course "We haven't had any reports of issues" is the standard response. There are so many features that worked so well that simply do NOT now. This is horrible. It needs to be fixed. I left AT&T to come back to Verizon, but now it looks like Verizon sucks too!!!
