The battery icon, like all other icons in the notification bar, should be white, which is a Google requirement for KitKat. It may look 'grayed out' as the battery depletes since it'll be a white outline with the color fill approximating the amount of battery left.

My Battery Icon has been green since I bought this phone last year. Also the Mophie Juice Pack Battery, which is a 2300mAh battery that also acts as a protective back to the phone had an Icon on the top left side of the phone where you see notifications such as Twitter, Email etc. BUT since the update this morning I get no Battery Info for Mophie and only a white Icon for the battery, which is hard to see. Also seems I am missing calls all day today and dropping or failing to connect on calls I make. Looks like there may be a problem with the latest software update.

It sure would be nice if Verizon could tell us how to go back to 4.4.1. Help Verizon?

RoyPilot, if you want to add the digital percentage of your battery to the top of your phone follow these procedures:
Press the Menu soft key
Select Settings
Choose the My device tab on top
Select Display
Scroll to the bottom and place a checkmark in Show battery percentage (this will show the percentage of the battery right next to the battery icon)

Stargazer,
I have the % of battery showing and an icon that slowly turns gray from white (used to be green and the green slowly disappeared) But the thing that does not show now is the Icon for the Mophie Juice Pack, when it is in the on position and recharging my phone battery. Lost it on the last software upgrade to the phone.

There is no official way to roll back (and discussing unofficial ways is against the forum's Terms of Service).

Yes, but since it wasn't thoroughly tested before it was rolled out, allowing us to rollback to 4.3 would only be common courtesy. In light of so many people having crippling errors with their devices since the OTA upgrade, I'm sure you would agree.

Have you tried a system cache clear or a factory data reset? Those are recommended after an OS update when issues are encountered.

I'm having problems with my phone staying connected through the headphone jack, while using AUX in my car after the update. After every song finishes and goes to the next song, my S4 will disconnect. Will clearing the cache and doing the factory data reset correct this?

They might, but they might not have any effect, unfortunately. I'd try the system cache clear first since it shouldn't erase any of your data. If you do a factory data reset, remove the SD card and back up all your data first because it will wipe your data/info.
Clear system cache on S4:
Power down phone
Press/hold volume up and home keys, then press/hold power key
When phone vibrates, release power key
When system recovery menu displays, release volume up/home keys
Use volume keys to navigate to wipe cache partition and press power key to select
Once finished, press power key to reboot system

These kind of problems simply do not exist on the stock Android 4.4. Kit Kat. The problems stem from Samsung loading up literally gigabytes of bloat, then handing the phone over to Verizon who, similarly, loads the phone up with additional gigabytes of bloatware.
It's no wonder each update brings a plethora of problems to users.
By the way, have you seen the new independently produced OnePlus One phone? This will be the wave of the future...a top line phone with a streamlined Android OS offered off contract at a price little more than the subsidized prices we now pay to Verizon. The phone initially will be GSM only, but I'm hopeful that there will be a CDMA/LTE version available by the time my contract term is up. Or, perhaps, I'll simply move to a GSM network and get this phone!

E_Pigram,
We want you to enjoy updates, since they're meant to enhance your phone's functions not cause problems, I apologize. What happens exactly with the data? Does it revert to 1X? Does it happen at a specific location?

I have two Galaxy S4 phones. After the update, my phones drain their batteries super fast and the charging process is painfully slow. I used to be able to charge the battery from 20% to 100% in just over an hour. Now it takes 3-4 hours to do the same charge. On top of that, the phone is heating up a lot. It's ridiculous. I've noticed no improvement in performance whatsoever after this update. So much for updating for the sake of improving the product. This update is going backwards in performance.

TimeWellWasted,
It is never good to hear that a update has caused problems with a device. Updates are suppose to improve the device. Have to checked settings to see what it draining the battery? Settings>More>Battery

Both of our phones have been affected by this update (S4 and Iphone). The battery gets very hot when charging, the charge doesn't last and both phones are incredibly slow. Sometimes 30-40 seconds between commands, then it seems to work fine for a while. Both phones were purchased in Feb. Tried to get online tech support, but of course all operators are busy helping others, who most likely are having similar problems. This makes my lack of reception problems seem rather minor.

Franckp,
I'm having similar problems. My battery is draining quickly and is overheating now. Also I have noticed apps seem to be slower now.

Outgoing messages are failing. Didn't have that before. I have to reboot to get the message to send.

Running in the same issue, keep having to reboot to send SMS. Also finding that MMS I need to reboot to receive it's as if the data just stops. However SMS I am receiving just fine.
