Auto Rotate missing?

Has anyone been able to enable the Auto Rotate feature?  The icon to turn it on isn't available on the notification screen where Samsung says it should be.

I'm having the same issue and the fact that I can't find it has me climbing the walls!

The answer I *did* find didn't work (see below):

Settings

Dexterity and Interaction

You can turn on Accessibility features to assist with dexterity and interaction aspects of the device.

  1. From a Home screen, swipe up to access Apps.
  2. Tap Settings > Accessibility > Dexterity and interaction, and tap an optio
    • Universal switch: Control your device with your customized switches.
    • Assistant menu: Improve the device accessibility for users with reduced dexterity.
    • Easy screen turn on: Turn on the screen without having to press any buttons.
    • Touch and hold delay: Select a time interval for this action.
    • Click after pointer stops: Automatically click on an item after the pointer stops over it.
    • Interaction control: Block areas of the screen from touch interaction. Disable auto screen rotation and hard key functions. Only show application notifications in the Notification panel and the Status bar.

On your notifications first line, you will have the wireless, speaker, bluetooth, and the fourth one says portrait. Touch the portrait and should then say auto-rotate. Done.

The notifications panel on my S8 doesn't have that.

I have also reset the default apps.

On my S8, there is no portrait icon, even when I display all the unused icons.

Does anyone at Verizon have an answer to this problem?

VzW reps don't respond to every post and the ones they do respond to are in threads that are marked as Questions, which this one wasn't, unfortunately.

As noted in other posts, auto-rotate should be in your notification panel (you may need to pull it down with two fingers to see all the icons):

It is an easy fix, but not one you are likely to stumble upon even after much searching. Go to settings>apps>settings>storage>clear data/cache. This will bring back the auto rotate button in the pull down menu.

I have the same problem with my S8.  This did not solve the issue.  Any other ideas?

Thanks - that fixed it on my friends phone.

Select Portrate on the pull down

Try pulling your notification screen all the way down then select the 3 dots in the right corner then select "button order" then you can drag and drop what you want in your notification. Hopefully the auto rotate is that and you are able to add it to your notifications.

Thanks for the reply. I've attached a screenshot of whats available.

19 icons in total, but no auto rotate, portrait or anything else that

might rotate the screen. I've gone thru the Samsung manual and the

Verizon version, but there is no reference to rotation of the screen.

I had the same thing happen and it was driving me crazy too.  When you pull down the shade, do you see a button that just says "portrait"?  That is the auto-rotate button after you have accidentally pressed it, which I had.  I hope that helps.  Smiley Happy

I had same problem with S9+.  See if this works for you:

1.  Swipe down Notification panel at top of device.

2.  Swipe down a second time.

3.  Click on three dots next to Settings icon at top, right.

4.  Choose Button order.

5.  At the top of the screen you should see icons that have accidently been removed or disappeared.

6.  Drag the icon down to re-add it to the Notification panel.
