Big RED Behind again

Big Red may have the least dropped calls but they continue to drop the ball on customer service.  1st T-Mobil then AT&T get froyo and still no verizon.  I imagine Sprint will be next in then a few of the no name brand cell companies and Finally Verizon.  Thanks again Verizon.  I feel so special.

I think Verizons customer service is going to spiral downward at an accelerated rate.  They already had the attitude that they have the best coverage therefore thinking no one will go anywhere, and now they have the iphone to.  I guess their attitude is sit back and collect money and do not put any effort into customer satisfaction.  We have already accepted that the prices are considerably higher and that is with fewer services.  Sprint has the simply everything plan for which includes unlimited talk, text and data, the closest thing verizon has is unlimited talk and text for 89.99 then add 29.99 for data and you have a considerable price difference.  If that was not enough they have taken the new every two program away.  I often wonder if verizon is having an office pool and the bet is how many services and sensitive can we take away from our customers before they finally make a stand.

Actually, that is not true, they still will subsidize the phone every 2 years (20 months actually), the only thing they did away with was the extra $$$ incentives, $30,$50,$100, based on your bill and service. I don't think any other carrer pays you extra in addition to the subsidized phone, do they?

I will not argue with you in regards to customer service, they can be very trying at times, but "Big Red" I believe HAS been pushing Froyo out to their customers, just not to the Samsung community.  Motorola Droid's have been updated to Froyo for some time now, at least according to what I have seen. If you want to get upset, I think it should point to Samsung, as they are the ones holding up ALL the carriers for the updates for their phones. There is a listing somewhere in the community that shows the phones and the carriers, and what version of Android they were running, and when they were updated to Froyo. It's very interesting to see where the issue is.....

Most of the issues with the delay are because of the added "bloatware" that is forced upon the customers phones.  If you took a clean copy of Froyo (or any other OS), installed it on the device and shipped it things would be good to go. But because the carriers have to put "their junk" on the device which you can't get rid of without extreme measures in our case things like VCast, backup assistant, etc. It takes longer for the OS to work properly because "their junk" messes things up.

When I was using the Storm 2 for example, I would shrink the OS removing allot of "their junk" and the phone would run almost perfect.  Friends would see how mine ran and ask me to help fix theirs too.

So in the end it is mainly the carriers fault for the delay forcing "their junk" on us.

Actually, yes it is true. The NE2 program WAS the extra $$$ incentives of $30, $50 & (in the past) $100).

The discounted pricing for signing a new contract at the 20 month point in your 24 month contract was not the NE2 program, although it has been described mistakenly by several people, including Verizon salespeople.

AT&T hasn't updated the Captivate (yet). The site was up briefly with instructions and a download link but it was quickly pulled.

I stand corrected, I just looked at the Verizon site, and that is correct. It is pretty funny, my wife just upgraded at the end of last month, and the Verizon Salesman said "And your next upgrade through New Every 2 will actually be in 20 months"...

I wish they would be consistant through everything they say, but that would be wishful thinking.

no, actually, I can tell you from having the froyo verizon would have pushed to the nation, it's not ready, yet. it still has several issues with the OS itself.

My point exactly. I'm sure the clean version has some bugs they all do. But add all the carrier bloatware most people don't want or use and it makes things worse and takes longer to get it to a point it can be released.  We should have a choice what we want on our phones that we pay for.
