Calculator App Question: from scientific to basic?

The calculator app seems to change from basic to scientific randomly.  Or in any case when I open it it is randomly on one or the other and I don't know how to change it back.

Can't find the answer anywhere -- nothing on the menu but "delete history."  No moving about the screen seems to work.

Go into application managment and delete the data (menu,settings,applications,manage,all, go to calc app)

No need to go to such an extreme. Hold the phone vertically for basic mode and horizontally for scientific mode.

Or you could pull down your upper control menu and turn off Auto Rotation. It will stay put even if you stand on your head.
