Can I use Verizon Messages on a deactivated smartphone?

I recently deactivated my Galaxy Nexus, going back to a basic phone. I would like to continue using the Verizon Messages app on it though. However, it's still looking for the security code in a text message to the phone to verify, which it's never going to get.

So my question is: Is there anything I can do to my deactivated phone to make the app think it's a tablet? (which it essentially is anyway)

Thanks so much for the inquiry, Mahrkale! Verizon Messages is not compatable with the basic phone, therefore you won't be able to continue to use it http://bit.ly/1j195DU -Tamara
