Can't find emergency alert settings on Galaxy S9+

This article gives very clear instructions: https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-216714/

BUT - when I try to follow those instructions, there is no "Wireless Emergency alerts" setting on my phone. I have tried searching settings for all kinds of related phrases and I can't find the settings anywhere. This is rather important, because I did not receive a curfew alert for our county. Fortunately i heard about the curfew elsewhere, but next time I might not be so lucky.

Did you purchase the device through a Verizon retailer? What cellular update is the device currently on? AustinL_VZW

The device was purchased directly from Samsung "unlocked". What do you mean by "cellular update" (where can I find that)?

Thank you for the confirmation on where the device was purchased, inthetunnel. The previous rep was asking you to confirm the software version your device is currently running. Also, I've included a link below with the pathway to the Wireless Emergency Alerts for a Verizon Branded Samsung S9/S9+. If you can't find these settings in your Unlocked Samsung, I would contact Samsung directly. 800-726-7864.

the software version your device is currently running

"Software version" is ambiguous without instructions on how to find it and the exact title of the value. Here is the "software information" page on the phone:
