Since the Android update yesterday I go through periods where I cannot answer incoming calls. The phone rings but there is no indicator that there is an incoming call and icons or anything to even answer the incoming call. How do I correct this? I can restart my phone and I can answer incoming calls for a brief period then it start all over again where I can't answer them. I have changed nothing on my phone. The only thing that has happened was the Android upgrade.

pagee48,
Help is here! I would be lost if I wasn’t able to answer calls. The information that you’ve provided is very much appreciated. I want to make sure we’re on the same page with everything so we can get this taken care of. Does this occur when you are receiving regular phone calls or are these video calls? Does this happen when one specific number is calling you or when all phone numbers are calling you?

I also cannot answer incoming calls. I bought, activated and updated the software of a new Samsung J3 yesterday. When I call this phone from my iPhone or my landline a screen appears with a green phone button and a red phone button. Neither of these buttons work. The phone just keeps ringing when I push either one of them. When I select the Reject Call With Message option, that does work. What can I do to start accepting calls?

pagee48,
We certainly want to make sure that we look into what is happening with your phone calls. What is the make and model of your device?

Let's get that working. Please back up all your information and perform a factory reset. This should correct any errors that came from the OS update.

Really, you want us to go to Twitter to get the fudging answer? Not a chance. And No way will I ever buy another Verizon or Samsung product again.
I am having the same problem answering my phone but it seems to answer automatically after a couple fo seconds. This is garbage.
I cannot swipe, I cannot just tap and hold. I depend on my phone for my business. And I want the answer here, not fudging Twitter or any other social media.
Thank you.

We would never want to lose you as a customer. Let's clear up any confusion, reaching us on Twitter is only a different method to contact us. We are not pushing you that direction but you have that option available to you. What model Samsung Device do you have? Did anything change on the device when this issue started with not being able to answer a call? AlbertoR_VZW

Being able to answer a call is critical, desertkub. We’re going to do all we can to find out why your S8 is not allowing you to answer an incoming call. We noticed you posted this a couple days ago. Is this still happening? Please tell us more about this. When did it start? Does it affect every incoming call? What happens when using other apps on your S8? The more detail you can provide, the better we can narrow down what’s causing this to happen.

I have a Motorola Z Force and for the last week I have been unable to answer incoming calls from everyone. The phone will ring and buzz; however, the number or photo if available doesn't appear and I can't press anything to answer it. I only know I missed a call if I hear the phone ring or when I see the phone icon in the notification area for a missed call. I did not make any updates on my phone. I really do not want to do a factory reset and lose everything. Any suggestions?

That same night my phone fixed itself. I did nothing to correct it, so I don't know what happened. Thanks for any suggestions.

It worries us to hear you're unable to answer any calls, Shloggarth. It's extremely important you're able to answer calls, and we will do everything to help. We have some questions to gather more information. What happens when a call is received? When did this issue begin? Are you able to make calls?

So DavidR_VZW, maybe you didn't read my post in its entirety. I know you are following your script and attempting to do your job, however, when something was working FINE BEFORE an update and after the update, it doesn't, it tends to get aggravating. Every since the raggedy Pie update Software Version: G955USQU5DSDA on June 8 at 11:02 am, I have been unable to answer any calls!!! I was able to answer perfectly fine at 10:50 am on June 8 BEFORE the update without hanging up on the caller, so therefore no water damage. The phone is in perfect condition, it's the software update that messed it up. And I believe I stated I am able to make calls out perfectly fine, hence having to call back everyone that calls me. Again, the update is what is causing the issue.

System Update 26 was available for me Tue 7/24/19 and after installilng, I still had incoming call issues. I changed my Phone Dialer and tested 4 times (5 min, 4 min, 15 min, and 30 min) so those 2 things appeared to resolve my issue which I suspected an update for the update would anyway.

pagee48: This is only a temporary solution, but I will help to identify where the problem might be. Can you try going to Settings > Accessibility > Answering and ending calls > and enable "Answer calls by pressing the home key," and see if that works even when your icons don't appear?
CynthiaYork: You could try the same as the steps above, but since you said your other phone is an iPhone, I want to make sure... When trying to answer/reject calls, are you just tapping the red and green icons, or are you trying to slide them to the side? On Android phones, you usually answering by sliding those buttons across.
