Cannot keep a signal on Galaxy Nexus

Hello,

I recently purchased a Galaxy Nexus through a third-party vendor brand new.  Since receiving the phone, I cannot keep a 3g or 4g signal ANYWHERE!  I am in Sacramento, CA, which is supposed to have some of the best 4g coverage in the country.  Everyone around me has great signals.  I already had the SIM card switched in the Verizon store, and NOTHING.  It is super frustrating to have a phone and not be able to use it at all.  I cannot keep a signal at home, at work (which are on opposite sides of town), or anywhere in between.  Any suggestions?  Is it the phone? I don't know what to do at this point but I am close to cancelling my service and going with a carrier that has better service.

Thanks!

Asha

It is a very well known issue with the Galaxy Nexus.

Many people have dealt with it. Some gave up and returned it for something else, others liked the Nexus so much they kept having it replaced until they got one that worked.

A friend of mine at work just received his 5th one today, this one has a strong signal.

Wow that is terrible. . .I have been reading online about all the issues.  I should have done more research before buying because I am in love with this phone now and I can see why people try so many replacements before giving up completely.  My first replacement should be arriving today and I hope that I am one of the lucky ones who gets a good replacement.  In the meantime, are there any temporary fixes?  I cannot use this phone at ALL!  It's ridiculous. . .
