I'm having the same problem, The car dock I have will charge it and comunicate with my kenwood radio though the usb port but when I hook up the speaker cable to the back and into my stereo (ie old I pod concection nothing). I got fancy and turn the dock station aaround and loaded the phone the opposite way so both connections are on the bottom and connected the to cable that way and it works... ask someone at the vervision store because the instructions say 2.2 update needed and I have that ... they werent sure what to say,,,, anyway going on my 2 like new phone next week... that will be 3 in less then 2 months,,, the update crashed my phone this current phone have had 1 week and there is a white line in the middle of screen like an old tv or computer gets...

I know this may sound stupid and trivial, but the only reason I am asking is that I missed it... Your phone needs to be running 2.2 first, and then when you put the phone into the dock, the car dock app comes up, and there is a little speaker towards the bottom of the screen that will appear. You need to press the speaker button and then another message comes up about connecting it to your radio.

Does this appear? I would hit the exit button right past the screen because I wanted my home screen to appear rather than the app.

Like I said, I went right past it so I know about missing it....

I too have my phone "backwards" and attaching the cables directly to the phone.

I do get the message about needing to connect to speakers.  However when I click ok the audio still does not come through my radio speakers.  So I've turned my phone around and have the cables plugged into the phone itself and I can use it as a handsfree through my radio speakers.

I would call Verizon, they will warranty it and replace it.

That's funny, I called Tech Support, and I had a problem with my first dock, and they FedEx'ed me one. I had it in 2 days.

Thanks for the information everyone. After research, I was able to locate some useful information regarding the Car Dock application. When using this app, the 2.2 OS update is needed. If you continue to have issues with the phone or the application, further trouble-shooting will be needed to resolve your issue.
