Last time I posted about this the files for 4.2 on Sprint were on Google's server. Now they are being pushed out. I'll say this for VZW. At least they're consistent. CONSISTENTLY LAST IN UPDATING THEIR PHONES!!!!. Well done, VZW. Well done.

I have to ask what is really the difference between 4.1 and 4.2? Is it worth getting your panties in a bunch?

The swipe-like interface ALONE is worth the update...

It is that much of a difference from 4.1 to 4.2?

I imagine not everyone would feel that way, but I have a nexus 10 with 4.2.1 and I like it more than 4.1.1 but I'm sure vzw stuff won't work well on it.  For example, the mobile remote/DVR manager only partially works.  I expect most vzw created bloatware won't work at all.  I work for a software company and when that sort of thing happens, its due to a lack of vision... Of the sort you'd expect from a bloated, bean counting organization.

Good thing updates do t really matter.. Ask the average user and they will have no clue..

The new Photo Sphere software is in the update, Google Now updates, DayDream Feature, these are 3 major features in it that I know of.

If Verizon doe stop support now, they better just release the phone and let Google do the updates. Verizon would save money and time by letting Google push the update.  I really hope Dish and Google get a Carrier put together and operational by the time my contract is up. I'm sick of the new Data Gouging Tiers, Crappy lte Speeds of 12 mbps down 5 up, and the negligence to updating the Phone's os, also treating customer's like mushrooms, keeping them in the dark and feeding them crap.

Verizon doesn't have to give a specific date to the update's date it will push, just let us know if they are working on it, or if we are getting them, or if they ran into problems. Any information is good, as long as we know they're actually doing something.

I think for people who purchase other handsets that might be the case but not with the Nexus(IMO). I think that most people bought the Nexus because they expected to finally have a handset that would run the latest and greatest version of Android. Nexus buyers for the most part aren't the average user.

When the Nexus on VZW launched it was competing with Verizon's flagship Razr, and it didn't get much support from VZW. Motorola and VZW were spending millions on pushing the Droid nameplate and a lot of buyers bought in. Keep in mind also that at the corporate stores when a customer comes in looking to upgrade they are usually "encouraged" to buy a Motorola product.

That is not true, I was pushed to an I-phone. One rep was honest enough to tell me that he gets a little commission off sales so come be to see him when I am ready to upgrade my other line. The reps probably are going to push you to the more expensive phone. I don't think any of the Razr phone line has 4.2. As for Motorola getting updates first, I don't think that is true, I was my understanding that Motorola was one of the slowest for updates before Google acquired them. First thing Google did to correct that was the push the 4.1 update out to the Razr M, Razr HD and Razr Maxx. That fast update had nothing to do with Verizon, that was a manufacturer getting out that update ASAP.
