Coverage is getting worse

I have been a customer for over 11 years and it seems as if coverage gets worse with the advancement of technology. According to your coverage map, I should have 4G service in my area. That is not the case. I have no service. I can't call or receive calls, occasionally a text will come through and you can forget trying to connect to the internet. How can you be the leader in 5G coverage when your 4G coverage isn't working.

Not a happy customer!

We'd be sad to see you leave the Verizon Wireless family. How far would you need to travel before you can pick up better service?

Tell me why I shouldn't leave Verizon and go to T-Mobile, which has superior coverage and more towers in my area (Zip 78258).  The number of Verizon towers and signal direction in my area is inexcusable.  I've opened at least two tickets with Verizon; I've gone through all the troubleshooting, yet the problem persists.  It boils down to tower location and cell coverage after doing some research.

The signal strength on my S21 Ultra 5G (inside and outside) ranges between -100dbm and -125dbm, which is absolutely substandard.  The closest tower is 1 mile from us.  The next closest towers are 2.3, 2.4, and 2.6 miles away.  None of the four towers shows a signal covering our area.

When are you going to put up some more towers?  I'm near the Las Lomas subdividion, just about in the center of the map. Here's a link.

After a PM wanting my address and how and when my service is 💩💩 I get no other response. VERIZON get it together. Before you go 5G you need to have 4G in all the areas that you say you have 4G coverage in.

Just switched from T-Mobile to Verizon two weeks ago. I'm having buyers remorse big time. I can definitively say that in my area (which is highly populated by the way) the service is much worse and very noticeable. May have to switch back if I don't see improvements.

Good morning:

I've been a Verizon customer for years, and this is the first coverage problem I've had.  I've been working with a technician online, and we've exhausted troubleshooting efforts.  After viewing the coverage map, and Verizon tower locations, I've come to the following conclusions:

1.  Verizon towers are poorly located in our area.  If you view this map, we're near the intersection of Stone Oak Blvd and Hardy Oak Blvd.  You'll see the towers are fairly distant from us.

2.  Since the S9 phones didn't have the coverage problem and problem with dropped calls, etc. the S21 Ultras must have poorer reception than the S9s.

I'm likely going to do some research on coverage in our area and look into changing cell providers.

My wife and I switched from Sprint to Verizon about two weeks ago and have had horrible 5G and 4G connection issues ever since. We had no such signal loss issues with Sprint but seem to have this problem all the time with Verizon. I had been a Verizon customer for many years until about 4 years ago when Verizon claimed to have true unlimited text, data and voice. This was not the case, so we switched to Sprint. Our S8 phones with Sprint had been paid off for over two years, and Sprint was recently bought by T-Mobile (which my wife does not like). So after much thought and debate, we decided to give Verizon another try. We purchased two Samsung S21 5G phones and were very excited about trying out the new 5G network as our old S8 phones were only capable of receiving 4G. Since having our new S21 5G phones, we seem to have all most constant connection issues. Places that we never experienced signal issues before such as our favorite restaurants, my work office, even calls being dropped while driving. Once again, we never had any signal loss problems anywhere with our old Sprint Samsung S8 phones. We live in the greater Jacksonville, Florida area and there is cell towers in close proximity of each other all over the place. We should not be experiencing any kind of signal loss issue, at least not with 4G. I can understand having some minor 5G issues because it's new, but there should not be any 4G issues what so ever. Had I known that Verizon's signal coverage was this bad, I would have never switch companies. Please fixed this issue A.S.A.P., as we are NOT happy costumers.

Same problem down in South Alabama. I have 1x when it comes to service most times. Went from great 4G to garbage and it seems there is nothing wrong with the network even with no ones phones working right. Guess they want us to upgrade which won't be happening.

NeedService232 Unless you have a CDMA device, there would be no need to upgrade so I'm confused. Have you reached out to troubleshoot? Does this happen at a specific location (indoors/outdoors)?

You're confused because you didn't read the thread.  I didn't say anything about upgrading.  We have S21 Ultras and it happens only in one location.  I replied to someone else in this thread with additional details that should answer your other questions.

Hello SnootyLibrarian88,

I depend on my service every day and would be concerned too if I were having any problems. This thread is a bit old. What exactly has been going on with your service? Which zip code are you in when you have this problem?

Mines has gotten worse since I 1st posted this. My zip codes are 42784 and 42713. Thought when verizon bought bluegrass towers it would improve but it's gotten worse. Places I had good cell coverage are now dead zones.

Same issue here in San Antonio (78258 zip code).  We just dropped a load of $ on two S21 Ultra 5G phones and the coverage at our house STINKS

5G coverage at the house rarely happens.  4G coverage is 1-2 bars.  Calls drop, texts don't go out, incoming calls go straight to voice mail without the phone ringing, "searching for service," etc.  We didn't have these problems with our S9 phones.

I opened a second ticket this morning.  The last one went nowhere.  Techs apparently don't read previous messages/notes, because I get asked the same questions over and over.

I'll be changing providers soon if things don't improve soon.
